I hope A100 has shot bonnet, like LFA, not as long as Supra with even longer front overhang.

In-house developed A100 Toyota Supra that’s not an EV sounds pretty great to me. The comment about being modular seems to open the door for a Lexus variant, or variants.

The balance of weight and batteries relative to sports car dynamics is what worried me about an EV Supra. I’m sure the day will come, but I’m glad it’s a little further off.

If it’s not being co-developed with anyone else, I have to believe BMW’s I6 is off the table. The question is what they’ll use instead - V35A is the natural answer, but who knows? If they’re aiming for 500hp, can Lexus get a version too please? 🙏🏼😬

If the Supra comes in-house, then I could see the Supra and LC/RC replacement sharing a platform. It’s really the only thing that makes sense to me. Naming it the SC would be fantastic, and those renders above are beautiful. Much better than either the RC or LC, imo.

As far as drivetrains go, it seems like the V35 is really the only option. I would love to see a new Toyota inline six, but I’m doubtful. I could see a high output V35 in the Supra and a high output V35 + electrification in the SC (or whatever it’s called). I think I read somewhere that the manual in the current Supra is selling well, so could we see a manual in a V35 Supra? It would be neat. V35 manual in the Supra and V35 plus electrification in the SC seems like a winning combo to me.

I'll miss the B58.

All right, dark joke aside......
I would imagine it could underpin the RC/LC replacement.
At this point I'm hoping that this is only the RC and Lexus actually develops a new LC too. For the LC successor to look really similar to the IS EV would drive upper-end buyers away. Consolidating the RC and LC would leave a lot of Lexus' current buyers displaced.

If Toyota/Lexus aren't worried about overlap and is wanting to revitalize the GA-L platform like we've been hearing then it would make sense for Toyota to develop BOTH the RC and the LC.

Also, sources were saying that it would be codeveloped with the LFR, or should I say it will be a heavily stripped-out version of the LFR. For it to be based on the RC/LC conflicts with what we've learned in recent months.

The problem with LC successor is I don’t see how Lexus can manage to make a better looking car, so have for it to be a one time car like the LFA and be collector.

The other consideration is if we're looking at an $80-100k Supra, what's the Lexus version going to cost? $95-120k? That's already LC money, not RC. Then the LFR rumors are $175-225k?

Well, looking at those porpotions (I know it's a render but...) and earing some rumors about Toyota going alone for the next 86...

I'm going to say, maybe that's some info about the rumored UC that came up a few months ago???

Also, considering what we've seen in the LBX, we might be seeing TMC further differentiating between Toyota and Lexus and what allows TMC to do since day 1 if they go in alone:
-> A smaller, less powerful "GR86 III" to keep the small coupe;
-> A slightly bigger, larger and more powerful due to different battery tech Lexus

Capital efficiency is there, cost sharing is there as well, going in alone allows TMC do design the platform that allows this... They've the engine to do it (G16) and adjust the hybrid setup accordingly.

I want to believe that the LBX has marked a further differentiation from now on between Toyota and Lexus.

The BestCar sheet mentioned 15m yen (102k).

Considering this picture:

2021-12-14-lexus-production-models-revealed.jpg

8 is LBX now launched and official:

lbxcoolsoniccopperbitone01-scaled.jpg

9 is the 2024 UX with a improved interior:

2024_Lexus_UXh_FSPORT_002_HighRes-1500x852-1.jpg

10 should be the facelift NX that might be coming in a year, most notably improvement should be the LM cluster with a bigger display and the new family front:

instrument-cluster-62.jpg

Since the facelift RAV4 didn’t had any powertrain update, I’m not expecting so see the next gen RAV4 powertrain coming to the NX facelift…

11 is the 2023 RX:

Lexus-RX-350HMAIN.jpg

12 is the 2024 TX:

Lexus_2024_TX-01_0.jpg

And for last, should be the next gen ES, coming next yea maybe as a 2025MY with:

A T24 hybrid powertrain as the ES500h to replace the LS;
A 5th gen hybrid powertrain (both HV and PHEV) based in a improved 2.5L

Am I missing something? Because from this we should’ve:

2023: No more launches;
2024: New ES, facelift NX and LFR
2025: Facelift LX and new UX (we’ve that UX300h trademark)
2025: New IS BEV

Do you see things in another way?

I doubt anything will be "based" on those existing cars.

I wouldn't be surprised if they try to make "Supra" it's own performance sub-brand of sorts.

They'll all likely be some amalgamation of the new platform and technology to share costs and build better performing offerings from the ground up.

I am becoming increasingly curious about the fate of the LC.

I'd be unhappy having to decide between downmarket or supercar if there's a gap left.
