I found Koji useless. I honestly had no idea he was the CEO until recently. Called himself a "car guy" but was he?
Worried about this new guy a little - finance guy may look more into cutting Lexus entirely if he finds the brand useless (which it's headed that way). A shame, but I will remain hopeful that he can try to give Lexus back some momentum.

Yes, Koji was absolutely a car guy and central to stuff like the LC500.

Doesn't matter who it is. The CEO title is meaningless at Toyota.

Thanks for sharing! I didn't know he was a big part of the LC500 which honestly makes the LC's departure even sadder. I agree though, it won't matter who is heading Toyota. It's meaningless. I mean look at how much Akio Toyoda is STLL screwing over Lexus while stepping down into a chairman position. Crazy.

Will still try to remain hopeful lol

It doesn't matter who's the CEO. This position only serves to rubber stamp whatever command Chairman Toyoda issues. He needs this position to maintain his "legitimacy" as the one true leader.

Remember the conversation screenshot of Akio Toyoda saying he wants to make the next LS a BEV minivan? This is NOT what a chairman does in a publicly owned company.

I've been speaking to some people and they were all terrified at the possibility that this new guy will probably be doing cost cutting on a lot of Toyota's motorsport programs, but I think the cost cutting is already underway... albeit at Lexus.

I'm not very optimistic. There's already been too much consolidation with Toyota/Lexus products, and I don't think a bean-counter CEO is going to change that. Time will tell.

At the very least, I hope the Mag-X rumors of a V12 for Century end up being true.

So toyota is developing a straight 6 after all guess that would put an end to any fwd car having a 6 cylinder unless toyota does something about the 2 gr otherwise v35 is as good as dead cause there seems to be trouble with 2025 models too.

Looks like even Toyota has given up on the v35 and it does make sense, it's already 9 years old at this point it's better to design a new engine than redesign and fix the old one.

As for possible vehicles to feature this engine
- Land cruiser
- Lx
- Gx
- Prado
- crown sedan
- next gen century sedan and coupe possibly
And than most likely solely developed for supra

Given how poorly they've been packaging their cars in recent generations, I doubt we'll see the I6 on midsize products. It will likely be full-size only. I posted earlier that the GX engine bay is already pretty full with the T24, adding a 50% longer engine will have consequences with crash regulations.

Don’t GX and LX have the same engine bay? I6 won’t fit in LX and Tundra/Sequoia either then.

That's how I see it too, if it does make it into production it'll be used like the Stellantis Hurricane I6, which they can only fit on their biggest BOF products and not on something smaller like the Grand Cherokee.

I'm still very doubtful of the future direction Toyota is going with their ICEs. Their targets are too ambitious and I doubt current V35A customers are comfortable with an even more power dense engine. Tundra owners obviously have different tolerance for engine reliability than RAM owners.

The 1.5T with similar output to A25 (180-200PS) is quite normal for its segment and will likely be the least problematic. The 2.0T is too aggressive with 300PS/450N.m and 400PS/550N.m targets: even the base version will be more power dense than the T24. The new 6-cylinder engine, if it exists, will most likely be a 3.0T making 420PS-500PS/650-700N.m. These engines would run 1.3-1.8bar (19-26psi) of boost to reach these figures.

The BMW B48/58 are quite reliable and despite their very impressive real world performance, the specifications on paper are surprisingly conservative. The latest iterations are still making just 95-100 kW/L and 180-200 N.m/L and run close to 1 bar of boost.

To me it makes much more sense to stick close to 100kW/L and 200N.m/L and make up for the lost power/torque with better electrification (bigger batteries and motors). A 200kW/400N.m 2.0T with 50kW/200N.m of hybrid boost can still very impressive 250kW/600N.m. A 300kW/600N.m 3.0T with 60kW/250N.m hybrid is 360kW/850N.m which is more than the iForce Max.

This engine has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I just wish TMC properly harnessed the Lexus brand, this would be perfect for them. Had F not been all but dead, they could take this and the GRGT V8, and it would be game over for BMW and Merc.

Hopefully here Akio has something to say about it, since I don't think any racing programs will be cut altogether. I'd just be more worried about rebrands (Lexus Racing to GR). I am 18 right now, and I hope by the time I'm 28, Lexus won't be as far gone as I think they will be. The dream would be talking to Simon Humphreys and Akio Toyoda, and just sharing the ideas I have for Lexus. These idea's dont take away from GR and Century, but they add to Lexus greatly without being delusionally costly.
