I found Koji useless. I honestly had no idea he was the CEO until recently. Called himself a "car guy" but was he?
Worried about this new guy a little - finance guy may look more into cutting Lexus entirely if he finds the brand useless (which it's headed that way). A shame, but I will remain hopeful that he can try to give Lexus back some momentum.

Yes, Koji was absolutely a car guy and central to stuff like the LC500.

Doesn't matter who it is. The CEO title is meaningless at Toyota.

Thanks for sharing! I didn't know he was a big part of the LC500 which honestly makes the LC's departure even sadder. I agree though, it won't matter who is heading Toyota. It's meaningless. I mean look at how much Akio Toyoda is STLL screwing over Lexus while stepping down into a chairman position. Crazy.

Will still try to remain hopeful lol

It doesn't matter who's the CEO. This position only serves to rubber stamp whatever command Chairman Toyoda issues. He needs this position to maintain his "legitimacy" as the one true leader.

Remember the conversation screenshot of Akio Toyoda saying he wants to make the next LS a BEV minivan? This is NOT what a chairman does in a publicly owned company.

I've been speaking to some people and they were all terrified at the possibility that this new guy will probably be doing cost cutting on a lot of Toyota's motorsport programs, but I think the cost cutting is already underway... albeit at Lexus.

I'm not very optimistic. There's already been too much consolidation with Toyota/Lexus products, and I don't think a bean-counter CEO is going to change that. Time will tell.

At the very least, I hope the Mag-X rumors of a V12 for Century end up being true.
