About 12 years after the discontinuation of the Windham, it was launched in Japan as a sedan exclusively for hybrids. It was the first in the world to adopt digital outer mirrors, before Audi, which had already hinted at their practical use. The latest model is priced at 6,020,000 to 7,280,000 yen including tax.
Lexus will be reborn as a BEV-only brand by 2040. Towards that end, the proportion of BEVs in the product lineup will gradually increase. The ES, which will be reborn as early as 2025, is expected to be available in both the well-established HEV and the fully electric BEV.
It will be positioned as a high-performance grade equivalent to SPORT. This will be the ES500e, which has a front-wheel drive, and the ES350e, which has a rear wheel drive, and the ES500e, which has a front-wheel drive, and the ES350e, which has a rear wheel drive, and the ES500e, which has a front-wheel drive, and the ES350e, which has a rear wheel drive, and the ES350e, which has a front-wheel drive, and the ES350e, which has a rear wheel drive, and the ES350e, which has a front wheel drive, and the ES350e, which has a rear ... Lexus has declared that it will switch to a BEV-specialized brand. Some may ask, "What about the BEV version?", but the BEV version will not be introduced in Japan either (see next page). If that's the case, the next ES will be centered on the HEV. In this way, the next ES will have both an HEV and a BEV. The development of the BEV platform began before the COVID-19 pandemic, and was scooped in the April 2019 issue. The e-TNGA has already been put to practical use in the bZ4X, but in the future, both the GA-C and GA-K platforms will be modified so that they can be converted to BEVs. What are the chances of the next ES being successful? The transition to the era of electrification with the BEV and the plug-in HEV will not be available, and the HEV will be the main focus. It is a "makeshift" vehicle prepared for the occasion. However, in China, it is not easy to make anything except for special vehicles, and it seems to be actively marketed in China. The BEV is not as popular in North America as it is in Japan. It is a "makeshift" vehicle prepared for the occasion.
The chassis will have a thick bottom structure due to the battery installation.
The next-generation BEV platform, which will be put into practical use in 2026, will take a big step forward in Toyota's BEV strategy. Unlike the TNGA generation chassis used in the Z4X and Lexus RZ, the next-generation platform will use Gigacast to reduce the number of parts and optimize the thickness, as previously reported. However, it will be some time before we can expect mass production benefits from this platform, and the production efficiency of the first Gigacast is unknown. It is likely that the introduction will proceed on a trial basis with a small number of units at the start.
Toyota has declared that it will not focus solely on BEVs, but will try to reduce CO2 emissions in every way possible, but it still needs to continue to promote the electrification of its products. The second half of the 2020s will be a transitional period, with a mixture of HEVs, which have gained widespread support, and BEVs, whose number of models will likely increase in the future. As BMW and Peugeot have done in recent years, both HEVs and BEVs will be available for the same vehicle model, and they will be introduced according to the needs and trends of the destination. The Lexus ES, which we will cover here, is likely to be completely redesigned under the same strategy. The next ES will inherit the GA-K platform, which was newly adopted in the current model that debuted in 2018, with a brushed-up version. The powertrain will continue to be a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder hybrid, but the latest electric system unit, which Toyota calls the fifth generation, will be combined to increase the output of the motor and battery. The control will also be revised to increase the direct feeling, which will surely bring about a driving feel that is even more in line with the driver's wishes. Accordingly, the vehicle name is expected to change from ES300h to ES350h. Expectations are also high for the E-Four (4W 4WD) model, which is not available in the current model. BMW and Peugeot have both HEV and BEV in the same model, giving the powertrain a wide range. Similarly, Lexus, which experimentally introduced a BEV in the current UX, will use the same method to promote electrification in the next ES.
Since it is not possible to realize it with the OMSU itself, it has been modified so that it can be converted into a BEV. This development began before the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has taken more than four years to finally take shape. The motor and other electric components are mounted on the front nose, and lithium-ion batteries are spread under the cabin, but the ES, which will be redesigned while maintaining its position as an SUV and a conventional 3-box sedan, will debut as early as the second half of 2025. Will it share the same platform as a hybrid model and BEV with batteries installed under the floor? Illust.
