It looks like there's still one more year of 7ES production run, and I'm guessing by the fall of 2025, 8ES will finally be introduced. See Lexus USA the 2025 is still the same old car lol.
If the next generation is coming as a 2026 model, there is still time for it to be unveiled at one of the fall or winter 2024 auto shows and introduction for sale next spring or summer.

Lexus ES

Two-pronged approach: HEV and BEV

Electric vehicles go through a transitional period until their arrival

●Length x width x height: 4975mm x 1870 x 1535

●Powertrain: Electric motor, etc.

●Chassis: GA-K platform

■Current model

●Length x width x height: 4975m x 1865- x 1445-

●Powertrain: 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder hybrid ●Debut date: October 2018

It was launched in Japan as a hybrid-only sedan about 12 years after the discontinuation of the Windom. It was the first in the world to adopt digital outer mirrors, even before Audi, which had already hinted at their practical use. The latest model is priced at 6,020,000 to 7,280,000 yen including tax.

Lexus will be reborn as a BEV-only brand by 2040. Towards that end, the proportion of BEVs in the product lineup will gradually increase. The ES, which will be reborn as early as 2025, is expected to be available in both the well-established HEV and a fully electric BEV.

It will be positioned as a high-performance model equivalent to the SPORT model. This will be a test of BMW's skill, as only the ES500e, a four-wheel drive model, and the ES350e, which has front-wheel drive, have no rear wheels, and the rear wheels are also motor-driven. The BEV version will have to be designed by BMW, with the designers either allowing the front to be modified or the floor space under the floor to be designed, but it is also important to consider how much of a rough feeling it will cause. Therefore, it is possible that it will be designed by BMW.

It is inevitable that the number of models will increase, but even in Japan, where demand is still low, the BEV market is expected to grow. Some may wonder, "What about Lexus?", but the BEV version will not be introduced in Japan either (see next page). If that's the case, then the next ES will be the center of attention.

Thus, the next ES will have a HEV and

Advance launch of BEV platform

The outbreak began before the coronavirus pandemic.

The scoop was published in the April 2019 issue.

e-TNGA has already been put into practical use with the bZ4X,

In the future, both GA・C and GA-K brands will

The form has also been modified so that it can be used for BEVs.

It will be repaired.

What are the chances of the next ES in the upcoming market? It is a transitional period to the era of electrification with the EV and BEV, and it is likely to be well received by consumers as a "stopgap" HEV. However, in China, it is a one-time thing except for dedicated vehicles, and it seems that it will be vigorously marketed in China. The BEV is more popular in North America than in Japan, and it is not a "problem".

●Sales results●

MEMORIAL DALLETS

Lexus ES sales from January to June this year were 1,450 units in Japan (down 21.9% year-on-year) and 19,558 units in the U.S. (up 1.2% year-on-year). Domestic sales in August were 198 units (down 47.2% year-on-year).

The chassis has a thick bottom structure due to the battery installation.

Next-generation BEV to be put into practical use in 2026

With this platform, Toyota's BE V strategy will take a big step forward. As previously reported, unlike the TNGA generation chassis used in the Z4X and Lexus RZ, the next-generation platform will use Gigacast to reduce the number of parts and optimize thickness. However, it will be some time before we can expect mass production benefits from this platform, and the production efficiency of the first Gigacast is unknown. It is highly likely that the system will be introduced on a trial basis with a small number of vehicles at the start of the launch.

Toyota has declared that it will not limit itself to BEVs, but will use every possible means to reduce CO2 emissions, but it will still need to continue to promote the electrification of its products. The second half of the 2020s will be a transitional period, with a mixture of HEVs, which have gained widespread support, and BEVs, the number of which will likely increase in the future. BMW and Peugeot have recently been practicing

As seen above, the same vehicle model will be available in both HEV and BEV versions and will be introduced according to the needs and trends of each destination.

The Lexus E featured here

The S will likely also be revamped under the same strategy. The next-generation ES will inherit the GA-K platform that was newly adopted in the current model that debuted in 2018, with some refinements. The powertrain will retain the 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder hybrid, but it will be combined with the latest electric unit that Toyota calls the 5th generation to increase the output of the motor and battery. The control will also be revised to increase the direct feeling, undoubtedly resulting in a driving feel that is even more in line with the driver's wishes. Accordingly, the vehicle name is expected to change from ES300h to ES350h. The current model will be equipped with an E-Four (4W 4WD) option, which is not available.

Expectations are also high for the model lineup. The next ES! will have a BEV in the lineup that does not have an internal combustion engine. However, the current GA-AK Black Foot F

BMW and Peugeot offer both HEV and BEV versions of the same vehicle, providing a wide range of powertrain options. Similarly, Lexus, which has experimentally introduced a BEV version of the current UX, will use the same method to promote electrification in the next-generation ES.

This is not possible with the original Ohm SUV, so it has been modified so that it can be used as a BEV. This development began before the COVID-19 pandemic, and it took more than four years to finally take shape. The motor and other electric components are mounted in the front nose, and lithium-ion batteries are spread out under the cabin, but as an SUV,

Orthodox 3-box sedan

It has been completely redesigned while still maintaining its position.

The ES will be released as early as the second half of 2025.

It will debut as a hybrid model with batteries installed under the floor.

If that's the case, the next ES will be centered on the HEV. In this way, the next ES will have both an HEV and a BEV. It is a "makeshift" vehicle prepared for the occasion. However, in China, it is not easy to make anything except for special vehicles, and it seems to be actively marketed in China. The BEV is not as popular in North America as it is in Japan. It is a "makeshift" vehicle prepared for the occasion.

It seems that the new 2.0T and Gigacast won't arrive in time for next gen ES. Sounds like a generation to skip.

eTNGA is a modified GA-K chassis, right? With Bz4X and RZ releases, I feel like I remember us putting that together.

This also checks out with the RZ 350e and 500e trademarks and ES 350e and ES 500e trademarks. If GA-K and eTNGA are related, it becomes easy to adapt and share "what's working" on the RZ to the ES as well.

If this article is correct, it looks like the next-generation change of the ES will be greater in scope than the just released next-generation change of the Camry: A 90 mm (almost 4 inch) height difference is significant.

Is this change to make the next-generation ES closer to the Crown FWD sedan and Crown Signia (which are tall for sedans but still lower than other crossovers like the Venza and RX), or is it to give space for an underfloor EV battery?

Bad translation.

They are saying Lexus will follow BMW's strategy of making both a BEV and HEV version based on the same chassis.
i dont get it, wasnt the multipurpose modular bev/hev/phev platform idea trashed since you end up with a heavy inefficient platform? M5 weighing the same as a pickup for some idea.

That was just because BMW did a royally terrible job at it. It could be executed much better.

I’ve heard it’s beautiful. I think i can say that lol.

I assume basically crown specs? Same two engines but maybe a tad more power. Hoping this is a driving leap like between the last gen RX and 500h. Then the ES 500h would truly be fun to drive.

The down part is it sounds like still pretty adequate power but nothing wow.

As for the BEV sounds like it will also be adequate, likely not solid state yet. I think the slower approach here makes sense. They can’t give EVs away without massive incentives

But it doesn't require investing in entirely new EV production lines or factories. Many car manufacturers are feeling the pain of decreasing EV demand and their dedicated EV factories are operating below capacity and losing money. BMW was laughed at for not developing a dedicated EV platform and building EV factories, yet they are the fastest growing EV maker in Europe.

There's plenty of low-hanging fruit for weight reduction in shared platform too. The BZ4X can be lighter by at least 50kg even without new three electrics technologies.

eTNGA is converted GA-K but not flexible enough to be produced on a GA-K line (at least not efficiently). It still requires a dedicated line so it's combining the worst of both worlds.

In China they had to sell their EV production line in Tianjin to BYD because BZ4X was a massive flop and the line operated at below 10% capacity. BYD converted it to produce BZ3 which now sells over 6k per month.

BYD also adopts the similar shared platform strategy as BMW. This allows them to easily cater to market demands by offering HEV/PHEV/BEVs at the same time without inflexible production lines.

Toyota's new platform is called E3 in Europe and it's a true shared platform based on GA-K.

Is the next ES going to be a rebadged BMW like the Supra? That would be one easy way to get a PHEV version of the ES. If they do that I am never buying another ES even though I've been waiting for years for a PHEV ES.

Following a BMW-like strategy on PHEV doesn't mean literally rebadging a BMW.
The market is weird on this one for multi platform strategy vs a dedicated platform. On one hand pure ev, based on a dedicated platform makes for a product that is efficient in mfging and program costs however the buying market does not want an ev for a car. On the other hand you have multi propulsion platforms which sacrifice mfg efficiency and cost for greater appeal in theory and streamling production and factory utilization. However my question here is, evs whether purpose built or multi purpose need alot of incentives to move. Does it not hurt the bottom line when each ev is being stuffed with 30% of incentives?

Why not just stick to HEVs and PHEVs, till the bev architeure and related components are mature and cost effective for customer adoption and the bottom line? Offering an ice only in addition to hev/phev in the Lexus lineup is hurting at the moment, with RXs needing 4K in lease cash atm so the days of offering that choice are limited.

Because their main markets like China are today 51% BEV. China is/was biggest profit driver for all the Germans and Toyota/Honda.

Problem is balancing act, while still developing EV tech so you are not ridiculously outdated when you can finally sell them in your markets.

There is no chance not to lose sales while this is happening, question is just how much and where.

Lot of what you are seeing with VW is actually because of their sales in China. Or for instance, BMW lost 47% of sales in China in August 2024, and China is their #1 market.

So EU saying we will erase all the CO2 rules, will actually not help BMW or VW.

The Chinese market is a Red Ocean market right now. Barely any car manufacturer make any profit no matter the volume because of the race to the bottom. That's why Chinese manufacturers raise price so much in the oversea market to compensate for losses at home.

They still bleed money even in western markets for western prices. Fortunately for them some random province government picks up the tab for every car sold. Chinese race to the bottom is not just the race between manufacturers and their brands, it's the race between provinces as well. ODM game is taking over Chinese automotive much like anything else over there. So only those with clever marketing will survive as most of their cars are the same and will be even more uniformed in the future.

It would be fun to see how many Chinese manufacturers actually have some serious progressive inhouse R&D set up. Most likely very few just like how it is in every other ODM industry over there, from mobile phones to air conditioners.
