I personally feel the crown insignia has to be priced aggressively with pressure being applied by the rav4 from the bottom and highlander from the top.

Toyotas cuv/suv heavy strategy seems like a page out of the gmc/chevy/buick/pontiac/saturn book. Hopefully they dont end up makng the crown sub brand the pontiac or saturn of Japan.

I don't think so. It seems that Toyota North America has made the decision that the Crown will be a premium line of vehicles, priced accordingly. The North American Crown sedan is priced (very) close to the Lexus ES (and higher than the Highlander). The Crown Signia no doubt will be priced higher than the sedan.

Let's hope the Crown sub-brand will not be subject to the Volkswagen Phaeton syndrome -- a model that is too premium for the brand it is sold under.

Only Toyota and Honda still sell enough sedans to continue selling them.

Even if we here in North America lose the Crown vehicles, Crown will still live on in Japan.

The crown has to penetrate the nadm without leaning into its reputation in Japan.

If the the crown will be effectively Toyota's Buick/GMC Denali series....i dont have high hopes.


On a separate note,
New sedans without legacy are no longer viable period. What the market needs from Toyota is the so called stout/maverick competitor.

Greeting! The Crown Sport and Estate are already introduce in China market.

Today TMCI (Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co.,Ltd.) are upload these two variant e-Manual at repair service website.

both two are using Alphard nameplate. It mean these two variant will selling by GAC-Toyota.

BTW two variant in China spec are PHEV. So.... it is world premiere Estate PHEV?

Not that long ago, the base trims of vehicles such as the Honda Accord and Honda CR-V had black mirror caps and black door handles. My wife refused to buy the base trim -- even if the equipment level was enough for her needs -- because she said those black *accents* cheapened the look of the vehicle.

Now, a decade later, and black mirror caps and black door handles are on an expensive visual trim.

The fuglier the car, the better suited the color black is haha.

Actually the Crown isn't even ugly unless the body color contrasts so much with the black grill.

I do love the Crown interiors though. Looks very classy, ala the UX interior.

I seriously think Toyota should offer an “Adventure” grade Crown Signia. Give it the Outback treatment. Slight lift, more aggressive tires, larger matte black fender flares, matte black grill with 3” or 4” fog lights, and a low profile roof rack for kayaks or whatever. Toyota could have a real winner here if they market it right.

Pleasant surprise with the MPG bump from 36 combined to 38 combined. Like NomadDan said, they could really flesh it out. Introduce a Woodland version, TRD off-road, and/or Prime version.
Sounds like it starts at 43k and tops out at 50k all options boxes checked. I like it. It may replace my CT200h.

And Alex definitely jumped the gun on the embargo 😅

I would guess no iForce MAX due to concerns about RX conquests. Toyota hasn't had a midsize, two row unibody crossover since the first gen Highlander, and their own data shows that the #1 brand Lexus is cross shopped against is Toyota.

2.5L Hybrid Crown Signia is going to be enough of a threat as RX 350h is still the most sought after model in the RX lineup, and that's the only powertrain that comes in the Toyota. Not to mention the RX-ish front end and grille...

Fuel economy is much better with regular THS5.

Also eCVT is smoother and more reliable. Didn't people just reported issues with the Hybrid Max transmission?

My wife has crossed over to the dark side and got a 2023 CPO X3 M40i. I found her the vehicle spec'd to my liking. She couldn't be persuaded to consider the Signia or Highlander lol.

There was the first-generation Venza. The 2nd-generation Venza is one-size smaller (RAV4-sized) than the Highlander, but the first was Camry and Highlander-sized, built on the 6th-generation Camry platform.

The Crown Signia, replacing the 2nd-generation Venza, is the true replacement for the first miz-sized crossover Venza.

X3 M40i is a pretty amazing ride. Congrats!
I told her she will likely be owning a Lexus BEV down the road, and so will I. Her aspirational brand is BMW and was okay with a Porsche but Porsche pricing has gone through the roof and heard even repair costs are head and shoulders above some German competitors.

But will definitely wait for one with some sort of torque vectoring feature for better handling in inclement weather. If Lexus can't come up with that on the IS BEV, I'll probably go with my second choice - Acura BEV with SH-AWD.

There is no excuse for Toyota or Honda not to come up with fun to drive BEVs once they've settled down on various next gen battery chemistries -- RWD-biased AWD with torque vectoring, above average reliability and fun and practical enough to drive.
