People have alluded to the GR version as something like F for Lexus - higher performance vs the standard car.

This has a roll cage, completely gutted interior, and racing slicks. It doesn't seem at all street legal.

Are we sure this isn't a racing prototype of some variety?

The only reason the Supra is legendary is because the engine was bulletproof. A few thousand in mods easily mowed down exotics worths hundreds of thousands, and kept running without many issues. Will the BMW based engine be as reliable? That is the big question.

I really like them taking the cues of the mk4 Supra and modernizing it. If they really wanted the legacy to be passed down though, it has to earn it with the engine.

It’s Supra Time: 2020 Supra Debuts in Detroit

First Production Supra to be Auctioned in January

October 30, 2018
PLANO, Texas, October 30, 2018 -- Confirming one of the worst-kept secrets in the auto industry, Toyota announced it will premiere its oft-teased and much-anticipated 2020 Supra at January’s 2019 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit.

But in fresh news, Toyota will be offering the first global production unit of the Toyota Supra through auction with all proceeds going to charity. This one-of-a-kind Supra will be delivered to the winning bidder when production starts in the first half of 2019.

well since we basically know how it will look, there are no surprises there, it could be as official rendering... and yeah, it does look really good.

People were complaining about the fenders being to wide, so I played around with it in Paint.

Also towards the end, around the 24:40 mark Jack Hollis said it will be “more affordable than people think”.
