BIG UPDATE - Toyota next-gen Supra, LFR, RC+LC News - Best Car latest issue

  • The Supra is going to be scrapping BMW and be fully Toyota.
  • There is going to be a Lexus variant of the Supra, which will be the RC+LC concept that we have seen.
  • The rumored LFR seems to be confirmed as a GR

I'd much rather have a straight 6 w/ same output especially when other brands are still refining their 6s. Is it really too much to ask for? 😭

Supra, Celica, MR2, 86, RC+LC, LFA,…. yeah sure…… :ROFLMAO:

The only thing I hope is true is that short front overhang on the Supra render, regardless on which model it comes on, because currently TMC (Toyota and Lexus) are the champions of long front overhangs in the car industry, one could fit a Bugatti V16 in there…. :cautious:

It’s interesting that they’re still calling this car a Lexus; I feel like their content is very contradictory.

Magazine articles come out with updated news before the online content. So this online content is likely based on outdated information when the initial spy shots came out.

There's nothing wrong with overhangs on sports cars. Overhangs are useful for high speed aerodynamic stability.

Also... check this out. Lexus is going to look so stupid. 🤣🤣

If I had to make an educated guess, the RC+LC replacement will be called an SC and share components with the Supra, much like they did in the 90s. Supra probably returns to being a 2+2 with a gas only powertrain. SC probably sees the 2.0T+hybrid power.

I can see the MR2 returning as an EV only model. I don't think there is room for both the 86 and Celica in the US. Other markets could get one or the other.

I have no idea on the GT3 car. That's up in the air. Business case is spread the costs and make both. Maybe 4.0TT V8 only in the Toyota model(650hp) and plug-in V8 for the LFR(950hp)?

It is wrong to consider the “RC+LC” as an LC successor. The LC is a one-off as is the LFA. The only thing I can see the Lexus having more than the I4 hybrid Supra is +2 temporary seats, the only link there is to an LC. Other than than it is the RC 450h Lexus never made. It is not a M4 competitor as the RX 500h is no X5 M competitor and the LX 700h is no X7 M50i competitor.

If the government wants to force me to drive a BEV, 718 and A110 BEVs are the only I’d consider. I could also consider a Taycan, they are so cheap used. But if they are cheap it is because they are so unreliable and expensive to fix (yet not fixable). No wonder sales dropped. BEVs being simple have so many bugs, that cannot be easily fixed, because the problems are not mechanical, but electrical. Good luck fixing that.
