According to what I understand it is more of a lightweight hybrid system like the Porsche 911 hybrid, which also only adds about 50 HP. I think it makes sense for the GR GT to avoid weighing 2,3 tons being a PHEV.
Good point, I hadn't considered that. I was just thinking performance hybrid like the E-Ray, but this clearly wouldn't be that if lightweight is the intention

Lighter weight hybrid tech derived from their racing program would be pretty cool. I've wondered if LFR = "R" to represent racing and motorsports?

Rooting for them to have this car have a Lexus badge and continue the F program is my wish. I have heard that LF-R is not the name of the car and i wonder if any development has been made on the Lexus iterations name. It is a great name and since this is not the LFA 2 makes sense has this car is the first track-to-street development after learning tons from their RCF GT3 program. After all the LF-A was not the intended name of that car and they just went with it the project name as the final choice funny enough. It might just happen with the LF-R.

Another article to add to the bunch...
Insiders also said that the Toyota GR Supra was going to merely be the "GR Supra", with GR being the make, and Supra being the model.

Didn't happen, and it will be f*cking braindead of Toyota to do the same here (with the only logical exception being that they bring every single one of their sports cars under a completely separate GR brand, and not a motorsports division of Toyota), so this is not going to happen.

Next.
