Yeah the new GT is heavier and has a less exotic construction than the 1st gen GT as it shares a platform with an SL.

The old GT is a higher bar than the new GT.

We don't know what specifically in the performance they are benchmarking against.

I would hazard a guess of "other cars underpinning GTD offerings" like the 911 GT3, AMG, Aston, etc?

Speaking of AMGs, I still can't believe Merc managed to screw up most of their AMG models in just 1 generation.

Moving from M177 to M139 is clearly a bad decision, I haven’t seen a single W206 C63 on the road. Wish they have kept the M156, what an engine.

I guess at some point we should focus this thread on either the LFA or LFR since they’re different 😬

LFR going forward?

SPY TOYOTA SCOOB

● Cars exhibited at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon

Unlike the car below, this one is covered in tiger print. There are many noteworthy details, such as the wipers with palm-shaped door mirrors and the handles flush with the door panels.

Two types were captured: Lexus-style and tiger print (?)!

Information expects to invest 500 billion yen by 2030. Development of the AI platform will begin in 2025, and social implementation will begin around 2028 through triune infrastructure cooperation. It is expected to become more widespread after 2030.

There is no doubt that this is a temporary part being used. The switch-type air conditioning panel is a part of the Crown, and it is equipped with a monitor camera that can be seen in the steering cluster. The steering column has been spotted from other vehicles, and there are also elements that indicate that it is equipped with an automatic transmission, as well as an electronic shift and an electric parking brake. Of particular note is the center console. This is a development vehicle for the road-going version, but it is very likely a temporary part that has been reused. However, the car is clearly different from the original, with a roll cage installed in the interior, a riveted carbon fiber door panel, and a hood mounted in the center of the cockpit. The Lexus version is similar but not identical to the engine-less BEV. Details revealed by close-up photos. The tire sizes are 265/35ZR20 in the front and 325/30ZR20 in the rear. The test vehicle was fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and drilled brake discs can be seen behind the Y-shaped 6-spoke wheels, but there is no logo on the calipers. The headlights were designed in a lightning bolt shape, incorporating the Lexus arrow motif, but the silhouette is similar to the Mercedes-AMG-GT, which Toyota considers a rival, and it is easy to imagine that the V8 twin turbo was suddenly designed to be parallel and midship when it was decided to release it under the GR brand. The interior is equipped with Recaro seats. The shape has been revised to a more conventional rectangular shape.

The nose has air intakes and outlets, and bonnet pins that securely hold the hood in place, making it clear that this is a race-oriented vehicle. The shape of the hood can also be read.

●Powertrain: 4VB Turbo Hybrid
●Chassis: FR platform

Four exhaust pipes are located under the bumper. The road-going model will be equipped with garnishes to give it a good look.

●Extra information President Tsuneji Fuji said, "In order to create a safer and more secure mobility environment, a social infrastructure that integrates mobility and communications is essential," and "To reduce the number of traffic accidents from the current situation, we need risk prediction technology" (continued on the left page)

It's a standard part, Co. The steering column was also reused from the Crown. The monitor screen installed in the center is easy to understand (lol).

Lexus is planning to release a fully dynamic sports car that is similar but not the same as the GR-GT. The layout is the same, with the super-wide nose and the cabin located at the rear, but it is designed with the assumption that the battery will be installed, so the chassis and other components are invisible.

The rear view with trapezoidal air outlets, thin combination lamps, and a GT wing was reproduced in the October 2011 issue. Although it is hidden by camouflage, you can see that the details are accurate.

The center console is lined with switches for the electronic shift, electric parking brake, and hazard lights. Of course, it will surely look good when completed.

The components are very different. If the GR-GT, which runs on an internal combustion engine, and the Lexus version of the BEV shared components, there would be a lot of waste on both sides, so the two cars were deliberately separated.

It is said that the GR-GT is the heart of Daisuke Toyoda, the eldest son of Chairman Akio Toyoda. Daisuke is currently a member of Rookie Racing and is steering the GR6 in super endurance races. The Lexus version of the BEV is a car that is filled with the passion of Tsuneji Sato, who also served as president of the brand, and the success of the project may affect his future as president. We would like to keep an eye on the fate of these two super sports cars.

The electric version, which is similar but not the same as the GR-GT we caught this time, will be released by the Lexus brand. This is a next-generation super sports car that looks ahead to the electrification era, and Tsuneji Sato and Shagei's work is at stake. (Photo is a design study released in 2021)

●Extra information This case is about building a foundation, so the costs should not be passed on to users, but we need to make a judgment," he said. In addition, NTT President Akira Shimada expressed his intention to have users bear the costs widely and thinly.

Ahead of its race participation from 2025, Toyota brought the super sports car it is developing to the Nürburgring, the mecca for high-speed testing. As reported, there are already several test cars, and we caught two. Take a look at the cockpit we snapped!

Engine performance 6505 Launched for over 20 million yen

Finally, we were able to get a close-up shot of the interior of this high-performance sports car that Toyota has been developing for several years as a successor to the LFA. Its existence was first revealed at the Tokyo Auto Salon in 2022, and the study model exhibited as the GR-GT3 concept attracted a lot of attention. Toyota's GR Company is putting into practice the idea of creating a commercial car from a race car, which is a kind of reversal of the past, and the GR Yaris is the first product of this.

The Super Sports shown in the photo will be honed by participating in the Nürburgring 24-hour race and domestic Super Taikyu races, and will achieve good results to raise expectations for the production version. Originally, it was scheduled to participate in races from 2024, but because of the time spent on preparation, it will not be possible to see it compete on the circuit until the 2025 season.

The Super Sports that was first captured at Nürburgring is a race-entering machine that is being developed in advance, that is, the GT3 version. As proof of this, it is equipped with a shaped door mirror and bonnet pins that should not be used in a commercial car. In addition, the gap between the front fender and the door is not aligned, and the rough parts are also self-finished, making it far from a commercial car. The door windows are made of riveted acrylic, which is also not possible in a commercial car. On the other hand, the rear end of the front fender is equipped with a rearview camera that functions as a door mirror, and it is expected that it was made with the assumption that it will also be driven on public roads. Based on these hints, the car in the photo is thought to be a road-going pre-development vehicle based on a GT3 machine. It is a typical example of the transition from a race car to a commercial version mentioned at the beginning.

The difference in camouflage was a clue and it was found that there were (at least) two test cars brought to the Nürburgring. Both are the same GR-GT, and the GT wing, large air intakes, and the details mentioned above can be found in common. The headlights are triangular with a slanted eye design, and the rear combination lamps are designed as thin strips, which can be seen through the camouflage. One of them is wearing camouflage based on Lexus' arrow-shaped lamps, which suggests that it will be released by the brand. In fact, our Scooby team had caught the Lexus emblem and arrow-shaped lamps and reported that it would be released under the Lexus brand. However, Lexus has declared its transition to a BEV plan, so it would be strange to release a super sports car that burns fossil fuels in abundance now, and this issue was raised within the company. The conclusion was reached that "it should be released under the GR brand after all," and the design of the front mask was quickly revised and the arrow-shaped lamps were removed. Given this background, it is likely that the car in the photo will be called the Toyota GR-GT. The price will be set at 20 to 30 million yen. The GR-GT, which combines an all-aluminum space frame with CFRP (carbon material) exterior panels, is powered by a 42V8 twin turbo and a 10-speed automatic transmission with a transaxle system. And as a token (?) environmental measure, a motor is provided. The maximum output of the engine alone is expected to reach 65 08, while the motor is expected to only reach about 50. The electric parts are said to be designed compactly, so the performance is reasonable, and the car can run on the motor for a few seconds when starting.

The long nose and the cabin that is set back give it a form unique to sports cars, and the camouflage with an arrow motif, which is also the identity of Lexus, is eye-catching.

Aiming for a society with zero traffic accidents. This AI platform is not limited to the two companies, but is expected to be deployed to many partner companies.

●Extra information Toyota and NTT have agreed to a joint effort on AI and communications in the mobility field. They will jointly develop and operate a mobility AI platform,

The monitor screen is part of the test equipment, and displays the operating status of brake fluid, brake pads, AVS (damping force control suspension), engine water temperature, VSC (vehicle stability control), etc. Thankfully, it is written in Japanese, so it is easy to decipher (lol).

The interior is full of temporary parts, such as the Crown's air conditioning panel!

LFR going forward?
I'd keep the title and focus the same until it gets revealed and one of the names are used.

On that note, after trying to decipher from what was written above, it seems like it'll only be 700PS, which is woeful.

Purposefully stunting it since it's now being pushed as a Toyota, and to give Lexus a selling point of near 1,000hp EV I'd assume

So confirmed TTV8 = Toyota GR GT
Pure BEV = Lexus LFR

Then what's going on with the rumored PHEV TTV8? Am I missing something?

That 700PS portion doesn't pass the smell test. The engine alone makes 650, so the electric motor only makes 50? Toyota's 2.5L 4th gen hybrid engine makes 186 HP from the engine and 245 HP in the Sienna. Thats 59 hp from the motor.

GR GT and LFR will be versions of the same car (GR GT3 Concept) with some sort of hybrid or PHEV V8.

LFA II will be pure BEV and come later.

Wait so did the source change its claim (that it will be branded as Toyota previously)? That's some freaking exciting news if true!

According to what I understand it is more of a lightweight hybrid system like the Porsche 911 hybrid, which also only adds about 50 HP. I think it makes sense for the GR GT to avoid weighing 2,3 tons being a PHEV.

That would explain why I didn't see any charge port on the prototype spy shots

Aluminimum space frame (ASF) design is decades old technology and is not much lighter than unibody UHS steel construction. Even Audi abandoned the ASF design for unibody in the recent decade. Glued alunimium unibody is a much more advanced technique and is what high end luxury cars use these days.
