It's like the 11th gen Civic Si isn't disappointing enough already, let's reskin it and charge extra for it to make an even bigger disappointment. If they don't want to bother to improve the car's performance, at least give it an engine that's exciting and fun to rev out, not this vacuum cleaner that runs out of steam well before hitting its rev limiter. I find it funny and a bit sad that one of the strongest supporter of high revving, NA engines completely turned their back against it, when there are a few other mainstream car manufacturers that are still making this type of engines.

You have to feel sorry for Pierre Gasly having to make promo videos for lame cars like XR-V or Civic Si, not involved with development of these cars at all (he does own a NSX though).

Fernando got to drive the GR Yaris, GR Hilux and GR Hypersport during his stay at the WEC team, and he actually helped develop them.

He drove the GR Super Sport? I know he drove the GR Supra and he took part of driving it in the final stages before it was officially released to the public.

Also Pierre really seems to love being with Honda, so I don't think he cares.

They should just cancel it. It will be a laughing stock when they arrive. ACuRa should just stop posting it. They probably see engagement skyrocketing but it’s for all the wrong reasons.
We have never seen anything like this on an OEM page.

Remember a few years ago when Acura outright said that they are making a comeback, and these are the things they end up making.

Lesson to be learned: internet car enthusiasts may not be buyers, but they definitely are influencers of the buyers. don't mess with them, or they'll destroy the product online, before it hits the floor.

Stereotypical American car journalists still trying to defend this waste of resources.

I think he has a pretty fair take on it. Basically that Acura needed an entry level sedan and needed a name that wasn't ILX. Coupes don't sell, Acura was missing an entry sedan with name recognition, and all sorts of names are getting massaged into popular segments. Toyota does it with the Corolla Cross, Mitsu with the Eclipse Cross, Ford with the Mustang, and Ford with the Maverick. I have no beef with Acura using the Integra name and I think that the Integra will sell well to regular buyers even if enthusiasts aren't enthusiastic about it.

Nice point of view @qtb007 !

Lexus could do the same, a 4-door coupe based on the Corolla sedan with the new AWD 2.0L HSD system from the EU Corolla Cross to fill the void left by the CT and IS in Europe.
They could even easily do a PHV version of it since TMC already has a PHV based on the previous Corolla for China.

I'd be down with a Lexus based Corolla with the 2.0L HSD. I think that new 2.0L in the UX would go a long way, TBH.

Honestly I feel this backlash is about as bad as the Mk.V Supra. Styling or not I find most folks heckling it are drunk on nostalgia for the Type R. Granted it's revered for a good reason but to assume that's all the Integra was, is overlooks its humble origins. For what it's worth the current Civic drives incredibly well for what it is. And as someone looking to buy a car for myself in the next few years I can realistically afford something like this, a four door manual with a hatch and a great sound system, while having enough excitement to it to be pretty content for someone that isn't incredibly experienced. Doesn't help I'm quite fond of the brand myself, but that's besides the point.

if it moves units go Honda. I have my reservations on the sucess of this product, but I'm hoping it proves me wrong.
The fact that it has a manual, I think there will be interest since it has mine. The fact that many Civic buyers have to deal with markups, especially the Type R and Si, the Acura buying experience might be better.

Acura has been discounting in these challenging times, hopefully they follow through after the initial line of customers.

Honda saw the Supra backlash and didn't think it could happen to them? And this Integra is a much larger change to the Integra formula everyone remembers than the Mk V Supra was, so the backlash has been proportionally worse. It'd be like if Toyota announced the new Crown is a badge-swapped NX. I get that they think the mass market will save them from disappointed enthusiasts (and it likely will), but why even call it "Integra", or market it with images of the 90s Integra?

And still, would it work when we know that compact hatchbacks sell more than compact sedans, and compact "crossovers" already replacing compact hatchbacks? I'd rather have a Lexus version of Corolla hatchback instead of UX.

Setting all the marketing aside, and looking at what it is, not what people made it out to be, the Integra has always been a refinement over whatever Honda vehicle it was based on at the time. This holds true to all model years of the vehicle, even the DC2. It's no different to how the UX is a refinement over the CH-R. Different/modified interiors, ride and handling characteristics, even down to its consideration as the entry level model. And let's be honest the enthusiasts that like that are very hung over on those previous gens aren't letting go of those cars for any reason at this point in time. For the new buyer though, this is a great option.

Those Honda apologists are going full swing at defending the new Integra, it's both hilarious and pathetic. It's barely fancier than and different enough from the Civic that it is based on, yet it costs so much more, and the exterior went from VW Jetta levels of boring to Crosstour levels of ugly. Yes, the Integra has always been closely related to the Civic, but the past generations of the Integra up until the 3rd gen of the Integra feel like decent enough upgrades over the Civics that they are related to.
