It is really stupid if they cancelled the original GA-L 4IS, made a temporary refresh, tried to make it a BEV then cancel it, started the separate HZ project, realized they need to build an ICE/HEV 4IS anyway because the 3IS refresh has been surprisingly successful, but had to do another refresh because the current one won't pass crash and emissions tests.
I assume this would get the new lexus infotainment suite, a couple new appointments and tadaNew powertrains expected? Or just interior/tech redo for the most part?

So they could've gone with a 4th IS 2021 all along but they decided to push it back for 2025 IS EV. Ok we wait. Soon we are reaching 2025, they realized they are still behind schedule, so they decided to push out another "cosmetic facelift" to keep things fresh. Seriously. whoever is in charge of the IS project needs to be fired for bringing all these mess.
I think the 2021 exterior refresh was quite substantial and made the car look "new"... but that feeling doesn't carry over once you open the door and look at the interior. If this rumor is true, It's strange to me that Lexus would spend the money to update the exterior again for one model year, but not do anything to the interior... which is what actually needs the attention.
It's hard to not look at the ridiculously long life cycles of the 4th gen LS, 5th gen LS, 3rd gen IS, 2nd gen GX, and RC, and realize that Lexus seems to have no idea what they're doing outside of NX/RX/ES. 😑
I agree. I think Lexus could leave the exterior unchanged but modernize the interior. But there are many superficial buyers out there who judge a car by how it looks on the outside, hence the need for automakers to offer exterior styling tweaks (facelifts) ever 3 or 4 years, to "keep it fresh".I think the 2021 exterior refresh was quite substantial and made the car look "new"... but that feeling doesn't carry over once you open the door and look at the interior. If it gets the longer front overhang, that is for sur. Otherwise with would b V6 turbo vs V8 na with long front overhang.IS with V35A would be a serious downgrade from IS 500 with 2UR V8 👎🏼
If the 2ur can meet emissions then scratch the v35. However i dont know if its possible.IS with V35A would be a serious downgrade from IS 500 with 2UR V8 👎🏼
I always thought a V35A-FTS couldn't fit in the IS engine bay... Also slapping a TNGA-era engine in an old platform like the IS is hilarious. Just redesign the dang car please.IS with V35A would be a serious downgrade from IS 500 with 2UR V8 👎🏼
