-25,000 units sold in first month
-Many people love the drive of 2.5 hybrid because it's relaxed just like s210 series

At least the Japanese get to order theirs and get it exactly the way they want, unlike us here that "hope" that the local dealer will get an allocation with the right options and no dealer markup...

Toyota Crown PHEV is coming to the U.S.

Automaker CEO reveals expansion of the Crown lineup

"After seeing the 2023 Toyota Crown for the first time a few months ago, we wrote, "Its form would hit the bullseye as an electric crossover, another of the shapely, lifted lozenges balancing the dictates of aerodynamics, packaging, and market tastes. The Crown even has a flat underfloor, the grubby bits from the front bumper to the rear suspension hidden behind aero panels." In response a question about that, Toyota told us it had no plans to bring an electric Crown to the U.S. The company is ready to admit it's taking the midway step, however. CEO Akio Toyoda told Motor Trend at a dealer conference in Las Vegas that the U.S.-market Crown will get a plug-in hybrid form."

Guys imagine this, hybrid max phev With similar power output compared to Volvo T8. Seems to me it is somewhat a GR camry substitute?

It won't be a Hybrid Max PHEV. It will have the same powertrain as the RAV4 Prime, NX 450h+ and RX 450h+.

so 2 points:
Orders for the new Crown Crossover reached 25,000 units in about a month after the official launch. The monthly sales standard for the new Crown announced at the time of the announcement is 3,200 units/month, so it is calculated that orders received are about 7.8 times higher.

Looking back on the past, the predecessor type (S220 series) released in June 2018 received about 30,000 orders in one month. In December 2012, about 25,000 orders were received for the second generation model (S210 series), which is one generation before that.

s mentioned above, the current sales ratio is 70% for 2.5L engine + motor (conventional "royal" type) HV specification, 2.4L turbo + motor newly developed dual boost HV (conventional 30% of the specifications correspond to "athlete (RS) type".

Sounds about reasonable launch, this is for Crossover only. In line with previous generation.

What is good is that dual boost hybrid is 30% of sales, that is cool!

Who would spend $60k+ on a Camry?
The same question could be posed some years ago regarding RAV4, it applies to CUVs in general. So this is how I'd rephrase your question:

"Who would spend $60k+ on a sedan?"

Will the Crown's interior be available a a colour other than a gloomy, dour black? Is that how Toyota differentiates Toyota and Lexus models from now on -- Toyota models are available in any interior colour as long as it is black?

Well it's just a shame that such a pig tank is named Crown because toyota has managed to make both the interior and exterior abmysal.
Now if toyota goes on to launch other body styles of the crown this has already left a pretty **** image for the crown
