What does anyone expect anymore, with the push for fuel economy, emissions and electrification there are simply no exciting cars anymore.

Call it an insight then

As if Honda were the only ones doing this. BMW puts M badges on fwd 4 bangers, Lexus puts a 500 badge on a 4 banger, even super cars infested with soulless hybrid drivetrains.

At least Honda still makes the CBR600RR, arguably the best street legal track bike.

But BMW will still continue making Euro7 compliant high performance I6 and V8s… (even if they are heavy and ugly….)

The prelude is a revered nameplate and was a pretty sporty coupe, especially the last generation. It was accord based.

Honda makes a civic and slaps prelude on it with no manual or sporty intentions. So no Lexus or BMW hasn’t done this to a revered nameplate.

It would be like Lexus making a 2026 SC 400 and it makes the same hp as it did 25 years ago and drove less sporty but made it a hybrid. Then don’t call it the SC

It's probably just a matter of time until Lexus whores out the LFA nameplate, lol, seen what Toyota did with the Century?

Even the worst M-badged BMW product based on a transverse platform (M235 GC) performs on a similar level as the CTR. So no they are not comparable.

But if we follow the same logic, the "M" should be a far more revered name than the relatively insignificant Prelude, yet nowadays they slap it on just about anything. Even the true M cars are now essentially fast but soulless limousines.

It's just the general state of automotive industry, don't know why single out and hate on Honda.

The Prelude is crap, but it will be very fuel efficient.

If only it has a powertrain that's sporty enough to backup that chassis. The 2.0T from the previous Accord with a 6MT and LSD would've been a really nice option.

Also, it's kinda ridiculous that a compact fwd coupe with a pretty simple hybrid powertrain weighs around 1450-1500 kg/3200-3300 lbs, I don't know how Honda manage to make this new Prelude so heavy.

That is actually pretty light by today standards, especially for a hybrid.

Still waiting for the GR Yaris/Corolla to have aluminum control arms. I don't know if these are cast or forged, but Honda really doesn't cheap out. Even the base Civic has those.

The Corolla hybrid weighs 2850lbs/1290kg. That's lighter than the 2nd generation Prius.

From Honda Japan's website. Honda is really off their rails selling the Prelude at an even higher price than the Civic Type R. My guess is even Honda themselves know that this Prelude is going to be a dud, so might as well sell it at a high price to make as much in return and take full advantage any chump that decides to buy this.
