Next-Generation Lexus IS F & New GS F Confirmed for Production by Motor Trend?

Tucked away in a sidebar column of this month’s Motor Trend is a rather stunning claim — it appears the magazine has confirmed with Lexus that a next-generation IS F will be built, and will be joined by the all-new GS F:

Lexus IS F & GS F Confirmed by Lexus

Rumors of both models have been circulating for some time — GS F prototypes in particular have been spotted all over the place — so the idea of a IS F & GS F aren’t exactly surprising.

However, the fact that Motor Trend has confirmed that both will be built is something else entirely. And how is this only a two-line story buried in the print edition?

(In my mind, the GS F will be a production model sooner than later, but I’m only cautiously optimistic about a next-generation IS F. Is there enough room in the Lexus lineup for two high-performance sedans alongside the RC F?)

Read this snippet "as well as a proper GS F" totally made the day. This is what I've been waiting for & not the IS F. #SorryNotSorry.

the other brands have room for high performance coupes and sedans. M3 and M5 with the M4 in between. The C63 sedan and couple with the E63. the S4, S5, and S6. I think an IS F & RC F and GS F would target different customers. (regardless of what they say this is a two door IS, like the 4-series is the coupe version of the 3-series)

RS4, RS5 and RS7 are the performance cars of Audi, not the S Line that is more like the F Sport line of Lexus

Somewhat with Audi as the S line for them still increases power and performance as the F sport line doesn't increase power...at least yet for Lexus

well i think yuor not entirely spot on with comparison, audi has s line for appearance parts to all models: spoilers wheels and so on...then they have S-(model line wich comes with appearance parts aswell as more powerfull engine. and in the lexus: they have f sport line as audis s line, and then F-model for over audi S-model, not quite RS-model, wich is rumoured to be corrected in year or two with F s-model lexus

Sorry I thought it was S line like S4,S5,S6 etc not just the s package which is like our F package which doesn't add hp at all!

This is great news. While I'm more excited for an ISF as it is cheaper a GSF is still fricken awesome and glad it's coming as well. With the NX RC RCF coming this year and now confirmed ISF GSF good future from Lexus!

Can't wait!

To be honest ... If Lexus started making something more like (LS F) it would be the MOST perfect idea specially for the Middle Eastern countries Something can be compared to the S63, Audi S8 or even the Bentley Mulsanne ... #TrustMe PEOPLE in Middle East will be 100% interested, because Lexus is known as one of the BEST in quality and reliability as well, Lexus LIVES almost forever!! [PLUS+] you don't need to visit the workshop all the time XD :p (Opinion)

I agree Lexus needs to begin appealing to all markets and not just the USA and European ones. I think the LSF will come with the next generation.

I wonder if a regular Arab sheykh who can afford a park of S65's, G65's, Bentleys, Royces cares much about reliability of cars :)
    H
Sir, Its NOT about who can afford a PARK of CARS!! It about that one person who made his decision to DRIVE ONE car of 1000 in his daily bases... And #TrustMe I know what sheikhs' want :D For example... I know that one Sheikh who HAS a whole garage of different collection of cars and he prefers to DRIVE only one of it.. And its the Audi A8L-W12 So why NOT changing that to Lexus LS F or LS-VV12

This is big news! If the ISF lives on and the GSF comes along, it will offer more performance variety than just the RCF. All three will be so bad ass and I am so excited to see the production model of the ISF and GSF. I feel like the ISF will have a more aggressive grille like the one on the LFCC (I know the IS is based of the LFCC but the grille on the LFCC is way more aggressive and the RCF's grille is different from it too). I hope the GSF gets some major style changes as well unlike the so called production model leaks we saw a while ago. Those were nice but there needs to be more. Three F models, the RC, and the NX will definitely help Lexus's future. SO EXCITED! :)

I think the IS F will fit it nicely along the RC F, because some may want the coupe and opt for the RC and some want the sedan and go with the IS, just like how the M3/M4, C63 coupe and sedan.

Well this was expected and mentioned last June anyway (TTV6), so I applaud those who didn't get disillusioned by cynics.

Can't wait to trade in my GS-350 for the GS-F. Been following the development of RC-F, but it's too small for me. In contrast, the spacious, 4door, big screen GS-F will be perfect. Hopefully, the based price is around $70K since IS-F is already $63K.

Well I'm hoping with you but we'll see if Lexus targets like the S6 range around 75k or the M5 which is like 95k. I'm expecting somewhere in between as Lexus seems like they try to be in between but well see how much hp and performance they give it! Hope the GSF exceeds your dreams of it and you enjoy it!
