Elon is generally a bs artist, but the way he triggers certain types is hilarious and absolutely priceless.

As far as Tesla, they are plagued with issues, but people keep buying them. I see several Cybertrucks every day here in NYC, for perspective I have only seen the EV Hummer once, and it launched way earlier.
Agreed, im on the Tesla forums because i purchased a Tesla for my wife can i can tell you they dont have as many issues at all as non-owner believe they do. Most of the time the forums are of people taking trips pushing the EVs range by hyper milling and also new ways to sleep in them for camping. I truly think that the people that have the most issue with Teslas are actually non-Tesla with some personal hate baggage they carry and waste their time rationalizing fantasy disparities on someone they have zero ability to affect. It's quite frankly bizarre and a great study on behaviors in my view.

Cybertruck sees discount as demand wanes for Elon's gaudy monstrosity

If the price of a Cybertruck is the only thing holding you back from buying one, we have good news: Tesla has dropped the price of its truck.

Tesla first dropped the Cybertruck's MSRP to $79,990 for the AWD version in October, down from $99,990. The tri-motor Cyberbeast trim also had its MSRP drop to $99,990, down from $119,990. Now that these discounts will bring that price even lower, should you jump in

Almost $2,000 off MSRP might sweeten the deal

At the time of writing, Tesla has quite a few discounted Cybertrucks available in their online inventory.

Ignoring the "5-year est. gas savings," the cheapest AWD Cybertruck will set you back $78,390. That's a $1,600 discount from the AWD model's $79,990 MSRP. Strangely, a 2024 Demo truck with 1,485 miles on the odometer costs $78,760, or $370 more.

For those looking to flex a little more, the cheapest tri-motor Cyberbeast on offer costs $97,030, a $2,960 discount from its $99,990 MSRP.

Why is Tesla discounting the Cybertruck?

The stainless steel beast's polarizing design turned heads when it was announced, but the novelty quickly wore off. Tesla marketed the vehicle as a rough-and-tumble truck that could withstand a dystopian hellscape, but the Cybertruck routinely fails when taken off-road.

Cybertrucks have many problems, the most noticeable of which are their build quality issues. They are banned in the UK because they are not safe enough, and the owner's manual suggests that they should not transport "large amounts" of liquid, as a spill may cause the truck to malfunction.

In December 2024, Reuters reported that Cybertrucks linger longer on used car lots than they did just a few months earlier, suggesting that the public has fallen out of love with them.

A more recent report even suggests that Tesla has scaled down production of its Cybertruck, moving workers at the Austin Gigafactory over to Model Y production.

Should you buy a Cybertruck?

No vehicle is perfect, but it's difficult to argue in favor of the Cybertruck. Even if you're enamored by its boxy design, the Cybertruck is not a great vehicle, much less a proper truck. It's also an attention magnet, usually for all the wrong reasons.

The Cybertruck has become a proxy for people's disdain for Elon Musk. If you buy one, expect side-eye glares and outright mockery, often because people dislike Elon. It doesn't take more than a Google search to find Cybertrucks vandalized with anti-Elon messages.

Final thoughts

Cybertruck deliveries spiked in Q3 2024 when Tesla delivered 16,700 units. If Tesla could keep delivering around 17,000 units per quarter, that would mean roughly 70,000 new Cybertrucks on the road each year.

Elon Musk estimated Tesla would sell about 150,000 Cybertrucks annually. However, considering the slowing production and quarter sales that were less than half of what Musk and Tesla estimated, that original figure seems unattainable. This is on top of the numerous build quality issues we mentioned.

It's easy to see why Tesla is discounting Cybertruck, but it's a hard sell regardless of its cost.

We have a couple in my neighborhood. Besides the polarizing look, sitting in one is nice. Kudos to them. The rear entertainment screen is excellent and has mirroring, which is great for displaying content! This is minimalism to the extreme, but I dig it. Would I buy one? No, but I understand why people love them. The interior is cool from a techy perspective. At Cocoa Beach, we see a bunch of folks camping in them which is very cool with their Tesla tents with the truck on camper mode. It's good to see disruptors in the market. I actually think its cool to see them , reminds me of a Mac Book Pro. I prefer a GX OT of course but i totally get why folks love these aswell. Once a sat in one i was like ....okay i get it this is very cool but in a different sense of why people like cars more like if Apple made a truck this would be it. I asked my neighbor why did he get one as he can barley fit it on his drive way he said "because there is nothing like it for glamping" I would have to agree.

Im curious for those who know does the GX OT or LX have a "Camper Mode" persay as in the ability for the car to not run the engine and have heat and AC along with various accessory settings changed to lower voltage-wise for overnight camping like Teslas? I was actively searching and couldn't find that. Granted this is an EV which logically speaking i may have answered my own question but i would presume you would have to run the engine to run the AC compressor on the GX with it on to reprelicate that. I think its a great feature many of their owners really use. I presume for a GX/LX you would probably have to bring a Solix 3800 or a battery to run heating and cooling accessories to not run down your battery.

I think its really really cool for those who are into that.

Despite how polarizing they look, there is no reason for people to be vandalizing other people's cars.

New model Y is out, and it still has the horrific interior with just a maxipad on the center console, and pretty much no other controls. I was hoping Tesla would start eventually making more or less traditional interiors.

Telsa has always promoted minimalism as its target with its interior. I feel like people miss that and want them to be something they are not. BMW has traditional interior with its EV range. Tesla will never follow the crowd thats why there very dominant with their cost structure and cult following. I actually think there interior is refreshingly different and enjoyable but then again i always understood what they where trying to make since day 1 as a brand. Tesla is successful because of its so different the what we see with traditional interiors. Its a breath of fresh air in my opinion. Its nice to have something not have dials and knobs and be more Mac Book Pro like than seeing traditional interiors. Me personally its nice to not see manual controls in 2025. Not saying it should be status quo but indeed its nice to see a manufacturer going full Synthwave with its offerings.

Now we have a follower who wants to disassociate with our site because of the evolving political tenor of this thread ...

Well, ... say what you have to say ... But, realize you are not convincing those who might politically disagree with you; especially when you resort to sarcasm and offensive personal comments.

I realize, now Elon Musk is about so much more than Tesla, but there are other political sites to express your opinion. We are a group who have an enthusiasm for Lexus and the automotive world in general. And as is titled, this thread is intended for your comments and opinions about the Tesla Brand and Elon Musk in only that regard.

So I ask once again, with all do respect, please steer clear of the politics ...

I'm sick of dishing out warnings about politics to the same few people. This is your last warning.

As the last few weeks have unfolded and Tesla's brand perception is being tied much more closely to Elon's, I am going to close this thread as it's become a flashpoint for unproductive political discourse.

If you want to argue about who is right and who is wrong, take to X or Facebook or whatever. Not here -- period.
