Unfortunately for Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and the rest of the banks that helped finance the deal, they quickly discovered that wouldn’t be an option unless they were willing to take significant losses on those loans. As a result, those loans have become a very expensive headache for the banks involved and are now referred to as being “hung.”
