It's not even the spelled out "Lexus" that's the issue. It's probaly how the middle of the steering wheel is made out of a single piece of plastic instead of the detailed, elegant solution they used in the LS and the current ES.

With LC steering wheel XD

I think the screen looks much better this way. The only thing I would change is to raise it bit so it would be closer to the driver's line of sight, but a screen of this aspect ratio definitely fits better and improves the overall look of the interior. It feels less "tacked-on".

Unfortunately my PS skills aren't that great

Looks like this is the guy who designed the interiors of the model y and model 3. We have him to thank to his crappy influence.

This guy too who is their head of design.

I just will never understand how human beings felt these basic interiors were acceptable and they were paying a premium for it. And now it’s influenced other brands.

And since Tesla is cheap cost cutting crap that means less expensive interiors for us. The Margins on a cheap interior with an ipad must be insane .

Thanks Tesla

Taste doesnt factor in. It is why Teslas biggest market is one where half of people cant read but everyone is approved for an auto loan. The United States is a trailer park that hit the lotto (well in actuality America's current fortune largely stems for their crucial support and fueling of the nazi war machine and covering it up). Now you see what happens when companies realize how low the bar is for selling to overcapitalized, underdeveloped human beings.

Throw in some fancy marketing BS and you will most likely end up having a great selling product in the US market, even if said product is actually kinda crap and is a hard sell in many markets outside of the US.

My quick PS......I dunno but something still looks off.......it just doesn't look very "Lexus"

I know what’s missing….it’s the lack of design, inspiration, and motivation to create a compelling product. It’s the pursuit of mediocrity. I remember the days when Lexus would get inspired by a leaf of a plant and create interior components to resemble that (swooping door panels on the LC). Lexus, like every other consumer goods brands, cater to the new-money Chinese tastes that look “cool” or “premium” on first impression (screens, SCREENS, flashy lights) but ultimately have no substance or long term meaning. It sucks but thats reality.

FYI Lexus japan had to be pulled along for the LC and Calty did the design work.

Remember this line from the press release:

The all-BEV Lexus plan has not changed. They only softened their tone from "no ICE at all by 2030" to "we'll offer legacy ICE/hybrid powertrains as long as customers want them, but the products will be BEV-centric in design". This is actually similar to their recent strategy of intentionally pricing the ICE versions poorly to shift sales to HEVs.

Well, i dont think it was real plan, it was plan to satisfy shareholders at that point in time.

Lexus never did anything to show that they are actually going all BEV, which you understand. Even this on paper is 4-5 years old design from BEV standpoint but thats better than before.

As to the Chinese brands and luxury sales, i mean they sell worse than they planned so no, thats not good sales. Investing billions to sell 100k units in home market and nothing outside is not good.

Do you really think Denza will sell anything at 100k Euros in Europe? It wont.

Can you give any examples of what 0 "years old design" are and in what they are 4-5 years fresher?

This is going to be a big car. The interior should be massive. The LS dimensions are:
206″ L x 75″ W x 58″ H

So it’s a whopping 3 inches taller, just as wide while 4 inches shorter.

I know. That's the whole point. Give the brand an impractical goal and not revert that goal when it's clear they can't execute it, while gradually taking away flagship projects from the brand.

Apparently, the Supra only exists because of the positive reception to the FT-1 concept…..again designed by Calty.
That doesn't sound right, fairly certain there was news of BMW/Toyota collaboration sports car over a year before the FT1 Concept was even shown

I actually think this is fine, if i were to sit and adjust my seat properly, it's not that bad. could it be higher, yes, but if this is the design lexus wants (uninspired, boring, cheap), this widescreen works way better

Toyota and BMW met up for the GR Supra/Z4 project in the year 2012*, and real development of the car started around 2013/2014.

*: I put an asterisk here because Toyota and BMW have had a long relationship with each other before the GR Supra and the Z4 came to be.

Are we going to conveniently forget that the TX and Grand Highlander got an Acceptable instead of a Good rating for IIHS' small overlap front crash test, which IMO is a big red flag for a car that debut in 2023, while the CX-90 got Top Safety Pick+. It's not just about how they drive.

Funny how the current Camry has no problem performing well in the latest IIHS crash test format, despite looking like it's just a facelift of the previous gen Camry on the surface. Even the rear passenger safety of the NX and RX aren't as good as the Camry lol.
The improved GA-K platform on the new Camry has better crash structures and more use of ultra high tensile steel than the old GA-K platform cars. And the new ES is probably the safest GA-K product yet. I hope they solved all the issues with previous gen (12V system failure, fuel tank leak etc.).

The TX/GH problem could be solved with better restraint system and will likely be sufficient until redesign in 2030.

"The ES500e dual-motor acceleration of 5.9 seconds is already on par with sports sedans." BMW i5 M60: Am I a joke to u? 2012 GS350: ??
LMAO I'm dying... Are these execs living in their own little bubble? Are they even checking out online forums to see what people really think? Or are they just talking to soccer moms, feeling good about themselves and being all smug about their work? I honestly thought when Sato became CEO, things would change for the better, but looks like I’ve been played again.
By "sports sedans" I guess they meant the Civic Si

It's still kinda crazy that TMC would bring out a car in 2023 that only get an acceptable rating in the small overlap crash test when there are cars from 5-6 years ago that offer better protection for its occupants.
