'Enthusiasts' see useless body kits and boy racer wings. Car makers see fat profits.

The one misfire here I think is that it should have been Corolla and Camry instead of Camry and Avalon. 2 stages of TRD Corollas vs. Civic Si and Type-R would be fun.
Perhaps a TRD Corolla will be unveiled sometime next year or in early 2020, after the 12th-gen Corolla sedan has been on sale for a year or so.

Australian media has been very kind and complimentary of the Camry in relation to the Accord, moreso than the Honda-loving US media. Congrats on the award!

It is quite interesting how there is this huge difference in perception... even if Toyota has been #1 selling brand in Australia (and Mazda is not that far off!!!), prior to TNGA they were never too much lauded in the media. Similar to the US I guess.

dunno why europe did not get the sport model... they are trying really hard to market it as fleet only model for some reason... it is fine if it sells mostly to fleets like every other sedan, but sport model would still look good with two tone paint that was started originally at Toyota Europe.

Yeah, even the new Corolla HB gets it. It's standard on Yaris also.

GAC-Toyota just released the 2019 Toyota Camry 2.0 with an updated M20C-FKS engine with a minor power and torque bump over the international market M20A-FKS.
M20A 126kW/168hp@6600rpm, 203N.m@4800rpm
M20C 131kW/176hp@6600rpm, 210N.m@4400-5200rpm
Compared to the outgoing 6AR-FSE (123kW/165hp@6500rpm and 199N.m@4600rpm), the new Camry 2.0's fuel economy also improved from 6.6L/100km to 5.5L/100km (20% better). This is 16% better than the competing Accord 1.5T (174hp, 230N.m) in NEDC cycle, which translates to ~20-25% better in real world driving.

As 6AR production winds down, we should expect the ES200/NX200 to receive the updated drivetrain as well. It is unknown whether this update will be applied to the larger A25A for the upcoming RAV4 (which would bump the power to 160kW/215hp).

With this update the Dynamic Force 2.0 has matched the 2GR in specific output while running on regular fuel (91RON). Recently OVTune estimated that the A25A could be making 100hp/L on premium fuel and now I believe it's quite feasible.

I'd heard of the Daihatsu Altis as rebadged Camry but I didn't know they were still building it, let alone offering a new TNGA-K one.
Actually I think I would buy Daihatsu one just to be different than others since it's same car in every way :)
