Toyota's most recently filed U.S. trademark (as of this writing) is for LY-Link, for "Remote maintenance service" and "Remote monitoring services with regard to the information of Yacht with smartphone or Personal computer". Doesn't take a rocket scientist to deduce that "LY" stands for "Lexus Yacht".

The Lexus LY 650 luxury yacht has started production in Wisconsin, with the first unit to be delivered later this year — here’s a video teasing the creation and assembly of the newest Lexus model:

The LY 650 is a 65-foot yacht that stands as the “first production maritime expression of Lexus design language, L-finesse”. Powered by twin Volvo IPS 1200 engines, the yacht has been built in partnership with Marquis Yachts and will cost roughly $3.2 million.

And it will still cost you extra per year to use it.

Wonder if they ever thought about hybrid powertrain for the yacht. That would have been a major breakthrough on the market.

I agree though I believe that would be actual development dollars spent (instead of marketing dollars like this Yacht), which means even more angry Lexus Enthusiasts complaining that Lexus is off playing boats and planes while the road models suffer.

I for one am glad they are expanding the brand and hoping a strong aquatic heritage begins here.

Curious if there are any yachting enthusiasts here that can help us understand what segment the LY is making a play in, what the price/value proposition is, are they the most expensive in segment, where do they stand compared to the competition.

At least Akio is taking the launch seriously.

here is a short vid showing he was at Kazakstan premiering the yacht.
