Howard Walker from Robb Report is one of the first journalists to pilot the new Lexus LY 650 yacht:

We ease out of the Boca Raton inlet and brace for the ocean rollers lunging toward us. Time to power up. I push forward on the throttles and hang on as the LY 650’s flared bow lifts gently and cuts through the heavy swell. Although the big engines spin at 2,450 rpm on wide-open throttle, there’s only the faintest hum from the seriously insulated engine room. And the carbon-reinforced hull does a stellar job of tracking straight and riding smooth through the washing-machine seas.
After an hour or so running at an easy 28 knots, I steer hard to starboard to enter Fort Lauderdale’s deep-water ship channel. Despite the frothy seas, the craft carves easily into the turn and shrugs off the whitecaps, feeling...

One of many Behind the Scenes Clips...This was an extremly high level event with Aiko Toyoda in attendance. It was an honor being there and it was incredible to be given full access to the #lexuslens event.

Thats almost as fast as the Lexus bicycle ;)
We got to about 32 knots in it...I'll post the video riding in it this weekend. It tops out around 43 knots....

This morning I was invited to an exclusive shoot with it in Miami with the LC. I'll post that soon as well. The Lexus Sport Yacht Concept will then make its way to California then off to Japan.

Did you guys dress the part?
This murdered me.

Have to say, the yacht was a very cool launch and part of a very interesting event. I'm writing up my coverage, and I can safely say it won't be for everyone -- Lexus went all-out for a very specific audience, and I think it was excellent.

Indeed, it has already arrived in Japan, where Forbes' (and sometime Kaizen Factor Asia Editor) Bertel Schmitt received his own invitation to check out the Lexus Sports Yacht. The most notable revelation: while the current 42-foot one-off is not bound for production, a larger 60-foot superyacht version, with more powerful engines, may well be built. The article even includes a rendering of what that might look like:
