It does seem a little more subtle than Tundra/Sequoia... and I don't know why. But yea, good combo.I've been reading/watching a lot of the Tacoma TRD PRO reviews this week and more than one publication has called it the best truck in the class. I think that's pretty high praise since most of these reviewers have also driven the new Colorado and Ranger Raptor as well.
No doubt the price is a sticking point in every single review I've read, but I'm curious to see how "It's the best truck in it's class" vs. "it's too expensive" plays out in direct head-to-head comparisons, and most importantly, with shoppers.
One thing for sure: the Tacoma TRD PRO in Underground with the red interior is 🤤
Transverse mounted T24s use air to water intercooler. Longitudinal mounted T24s use air to air.I was watching one of TFL’s videos and they had a bare chassis that they were going over with the chief engineer. I noticed the T24 in the Tacoma uses an air to air intercooler. For some reason, I’ve been under the impression that the T24 uses an air to water intercooler like the V35. I actually prefer the air to air intercooler as it’s a much simpler, cheaper, and easier to repair system.
And the new gen carries more payload and tows more than a half ton from 15 years ago.pushing 60k for these things, and not even half ton....this market is wild
Stout cant come soon enough, but rumor mills seem to be all over the place with this. And the new gen carries more payload and tows more than a half ton from 15 years ago.
Cars grow up an entire segment in size and capability every 25 years. They become more expensive because they fill in the role of the product that was previously above them. The Corolla is no longer a compact car. The Tacoma is no longer a compact pickup.
That's why the Maverick became so successful. The original compact pickup customer base want a real compact pickup. The real problem is not Tacoma has become too expensive, but Toyota still doesn't have the Stout to fill in the original Tacoma segment.

The other elephant in the room is that the Tundra isnt moving as well as it should be. Dealers are discounting them heavily. Right now (8k off the higher trims). The taco is gonna be in a world of hurt from up top.
I have to throw this TFL vid here because Jack addresses what happened to TFL's Taco
possible transmission recall?
