Did they show the SOC? The battery in the 500h powertrain can run out of charge in just 2 drag runs so if they arrive at the site with half battery and did a test run the 500h will have no hybrid boost for the entire test.

Not saying it's the tester's fault, because that is the biggest weakness with any 500h model and why nobody should buy them. You only get to enjoy the fun for a few dozen seconds. The battery has barely more charge than a Gen 2 Prius (1.44kWh vs 1.31kWh). Most of Toyota's hybrid batteries are designed for mild load city driving where the priority is quick discharge and regen from stop light to stop light, not for continuous load like performance driving and towing.
500h, you talk mean the turbo 4 cylinder? Or the GR V6 hybrid also? If not the later, what makes the difference?

with these and the grand highlander on stop sale, does tmc stop building new units and/or repurpose production cap to the highlander?

I didn't realize that was still happening. Have they not fixed this since it was announced a few weeks ago?

i only heard about this when a relative went to t/d both the GH/TX. The toyota dealership said eta soon, but the Lexus dealer just took their info, and said tbd.

Unofficial channels were saying october timeframe.

i was looking at tx forums, seems like unofficial channels show the following

Oct 24 SOP for 25 MY with the fix implemented
Q1 25 will have the in service fix, which will be rolled out on unsold port stock, and then in service units. In service units need to be shipped back to port? (that last bit is sketchy cause never heard customers cars being shipped back)

The repair will entail body work....

All in all, idk whats going on, but with the number of stop sales and recalls, quality needs to be reexamined.

It really depends on what the fix is. If they need to make an adjustment on the manufacturing of an part, the turnaround can be super quick. If they have to manufacturer a new part, it can take months with people working around the clock. Being that they are still on stop sale, I'm sure Toyota stopped building the models. There's a lot of risk in building known no good vehicles with the plan to retrofit a fix and goes against Toyota principles.

Since the Indiana plant is pretty flexible overall, spitting out 4 different models, I expect they asked their suppliers for Sienna and Highlander to supply as much extra as possible to keep the Indiana capacity utilized as much as possible. Again, that goes back to supply base. When Highlander volume was essentially cut in half last year, did the unique component suppliers retool some of their capacity for different product? We don't know. All it takes is one supplier doing that to throw a wrench in their ability to reallocate resources.

I wonder if focusing on ev9 recall, similar issue, will shed some light as to the type of fix. Airbag supplier or otherwise

I would not expect there to be fire sales on a vehicle that 1) is in demand and 2) had no supply for 4 months.
