Hey all, we've had our cloudburst TX550H+ for about a month now. Some early observations are below. Apologize for picture/format, this website said it would not let me post the way I had it writen out in bullet points, so just copying/pasting from Word.

Its good to see the 550h get such a high MPGe. The 500h owners seem to be having issues reaching their targets on select forums.

So the only choices are hybrid-only and EV-only? Blended mode (aka auto hybrid/ev) is the most economical way to drive a PHEV and every model should offer it and make it the default driving mode.

No, it has auto EV/hybrid, but I have not found out how to make it stay on it at this point.

Probably goes back to how emission and fuel economy testing is done. If a mode (like sport mode) can be remembered, the manufacturers supposedly have to test in the worst case mode. Depending how the PHEV testing protocol is done, they may get better ratings by having it deplete the battery first -- which is probably how most people will drive PHEVs, TBH.

Had a friend tell me yesterday “bro I see the new TX everywhere” which I agreed with.

What a home run so far,

My neighbors just got one - seems like a base-ish TX 350 that has the ugly Infiniti J30 wheels. It looks good from the back and the sides, but I really wish they'd have come up with something different for the front end. Funny enough, the neighbors across the street have a GX and the folks on either side of them have RXs 😁

Seems so, although that seemed like a particularly bad showing for the 500h powertrain. What was going on?
Did they show the SOC? The battery in the 500h powertrain can run out of charge in just 2 drag runs so if they arrive at the site with half battery and did a test run the 500h will have no hybrid boost for the entire test.

Not saying it's the tester's fault, because that is the biggest weakness with any 500h model and why nobody should buy them. You only get to enjoy the fun for a few dozen seconds. The battery has barely more charge than a Gen 2 Prius (1.44kWh vs 1.31kWh). Most of Toyota's hybrid batteries are designed for mild load city driving where the priority is quick discharge and regen from stop light to stop light, not for continuous load like performance driving and towing.

honestly how many owners are 0-60 these?

Just need to haul the family with better power and efficiency then soccer mom with a non 500h lol

With sales numbers as amazing as they are (lexus tx by a mile then type s, then mazda) even if this a terrible performance vehicle, HQ doesnt care

I couldn't care less whether it's fast or slow. It will never outrun a true V6 powertrain let alone really good ones like B58 and M256. What's really concerning to me is that whiny 4 cylinder engine like c'mon......even Mazda's 4 popper sounded way better than this thing.

I don’t really care if the TX won or lost but seems a lot of comments are saying the TX shouldn’t be brake boosted off the line and the driver sucked. I honestly can’t take any youtubers serious as they all seem to be honda/acura fangirls. It’s like what happens on youtube doesn’t translate in real life. Sam is then arguing with everyone quoting the slowest TX time found to back his results.

GLS 63 spanks them all 🤣 They all are pretty equal hp/weight wise so the results can go anyway.

Cool idea tho IMG_9077.png
