At the recent reveal of the IS 500 F SPORT Performance Launch Edition, Lexus executives revealed some interesting nuggets, including that more F and F SPORT models are planned and coming very soon. The information comes via Kirk Kreifels on YouTube.
The video shows an interesting dialogue between Townsend Bell and Andrew Gilleland, group vice president and general manager of the Lexus Division.
Bell: [The IS 500 F SPORT Performance] is the first in the F SPORT Performance line… does that mean we will see other vehicles in the F SPORT performance line?
Gilleland: There will definitely be more vehicles – there’s a lot more where this came from. I’m not going to be able to get into it…”
Bell: Is there another F anything coming?
Gilleland: …there is a high likelihood… Cooper… you heard him say there’s something more… so we’re going to leave you guessing, but we wont be leaving you guessing for long.”
Shortly after, Gilleland also hints at performance-focused SUVs and CUVs from Lexus.
So, what might some of those models be?
In the video, it’s mentioned that Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation, would require an even higher performance IS to earn the IS F moniker.
There have been rumors swirling for many years about an LS F and LC F, and they seem to be the most likely candidates to receive the “full F” treatment.
If you ask us, the upcoming NX and RX redesigns could also be great candidates for F SPORT performance models if a full F is not possible.
Let us know which F and F SPORT Performance you think will come next in the Lexus Enthusiast forums.
