2010 Lexus GX 460 Interior Leaked!
A photo of the 2010 Lexus GX 460 interior has leaked (click for a larger image):
The most noticeable element of the new interior is the massive touchscreen, but what’s most impressive is the improved usability and simplicity—compare the new GX interior with the current LX:

All in all, it’s a very nice display of Lexus refinement, everything looks well-integrated and well-appointed.

Thx for posting! Looks neat, kind of like a simplified version of the LX 570 interior. I think the LX interior looks more ostentatious, but the GX 460 interior looks to be quite similar.
There’s quite some Jaguar + VW + Land Rover feeling and… sigh.. Toyota too - not a big fan of the rounded trapezoidal look.
Love the big screen though.
One question: How does Lexus choose… having wood in the front of the gear shift, the back of the gear shift, or all over the gear shift?
Looks good! I’m excited we’re finally getting this new model! I can’t believe there haven’t been more spy shots given its (supposedly) coming out in December.
Let’s hope Lexus hasn’t gone all virtual and stopped all their real world tests.
lol… in the case of the LX picture above, the gearshift knob isn’t in the correct position.
too much plastic in the dash. right?
heck yeah! Doesn’t the plastic framing make the wood trim above the glovebox look cheap?
OMG…. That is so anti-lexus. No Class. If that is what I’ve been waiting for I will pass. The interior of a lexus should appear regal yet functional. This looks like a cheap, plastic stereo. Go back to the drawing board and produce a interior worthy of the Lexus brand.
Am i crazy or do i not see remote touch? big thumbs down
Also way too much plastic… needs more wood
Remote Touch has won raves, but it probably works best on other vehicles…Lexus is probably making an exception for the LX and GX—its off-roaders. When trundling down a mountainside, a touchscreen probably works better.
yeah People already complained about the Remote Touch’s usability on just the slightest roughness of a road. Overall, I still consider the iDrive the safest among all.
What a tough crowd.
Why are so many people complaining about the plastics? Don’t most luxury SUV’s use plastic on the center stack? I don’t recall any other SUV to completely surround the stereo/navigation unit with wood or leather. Too much wood would give it an elderly persona.
IMO it’s one of the best interiors since the LX, LS, and IS. I prefer this interior over the RX’s swoopy dashboard. It’s a good mix of wood, leather, and aluminum-like plastics. Also loving the huge LCD screen.
@Jay
I agree with you on the plastic. It really doesn’t look that cheap (of course, that might change when we finally get to feel it). I only have two complaints:
1. Too little wood! If you look around, you’ll find that theres hardly any wood anywhere. The bit of wood panelling on the passenger’s side looks poorly integrated, but I guess they were trying to be modern.
2. The center stack doesn’t fit in with the rest of the dashboard. The giant gap above it and that giant blob of plastic near the shift knob don’t help.
But I’ve got to say, I love the split armrest.
What you say makes sense about going down a mountain side, but for most buyers of the LX/GX the off-roading consist of rushing to soccer practice after school.
It’s only a partial pic, I’m waiting to see what treatment they give the doors, rear cabin, etc. Overall though, I think it’s a nice redesign—and now a Lexus-only interior.
Yeah but still… lol
I love the bragging rights my LX has. I love how I can be one of the most confident man in my city during an earthquake or tsunami (I just need a snorkel to 1up this other guy). Imagine how frustrated it’d be when you’re actually on ...dirt road, at the least.
I’m surprised that people are cheering for the Remote Touch right now.
Amazing looking - we’re 9 time owners and this is just an amazing (so far) compliment to the line. Nothing on a Lexus is “cheap.” Look at the competition in comparison. Can you get that strong Lexus “thud” when you close a BMW or Crudillac door? No. Excited for this. Compare the leather in these machines as well, nothing compares.
Overall it looks quite nice, though I wish it had more wood trim on the center console. What happened to the handbrake that the Prado has? Can’t make out a foot operated parking brake or electronic switch in that picture.
Don’t care for the leather shroud around the gear selector which is absent in other Lexus models including LX.
The beige/brown color scheme is a favourite with me, it looks like milk chocolate above & white chocolate below…Yummy.
I too noticed that, WoL. I’ve seen some other pictures of the LX with the ‘reversed’ selector lever.
Yeah, too much metal finish & too little wood.
After sampling Remote Touch, COMAND & i-Drive, I prefer the usability & space efficiency of the Germans’ system. RT needs to be more compact with short cut switches for ‘climate’ & ‘audio’, so its good that the new GX doesn’t have it.
2 Jay :
Check out the center console of the new Range Rover with its wood/leather surrounds & you’re right that this is way better that the RX interior.
The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have wood on the outer sides of the center console. I meant no other SUV has wood that immediately surrounds the stereo/navigation unit. You know like those cheap wood dash accessory kits. However the GX does have a slab of wood on the passenger side of the dash that the Range Rover doesn’t. Plus IMO the silver plastic looks nicer than the dull black plastics on the Range Rover.
Assuming that the base price will still be well under $50k, this is the nicest interior in it’s class (Mercedes M class, BMW X5, Audi Q5/Q7).
I am liking it. The GX lost to the Touareg the last time I was in the market. I’m thinking it might be the other way around when I’m in the market again. I hope the rest of the vehicle is as tasteful. I also hope they get rid of that silly rear door, or at least let the rear glass open separately.
I think the brushed metal gives the interior a more truck-like feel, though there may be too much of it. I’m waiting to see it IRL.
I think you might want to see a better photo before completely writing it off—I don’t see what you’re seeing.
BTW, it looks like the entire audio setup is touchscreen-only, no buttons on the sound system other than a CD eject button.
I like the touchscreen in the Lexus trucks, seems more functional considering your seating position.
Pretty sure the 2010 GX will have a more traditional lift-gate.
Nothing wrong with metal… but the metal areas look so flimsy and weak and cheap… So yeah… it looks pretty nice from two knobs and below.
I always prefer as much genuine wood trim as can be neatly integrated within the interior. Basically there should be wood trim on the dash, center console, steering, gear selector, all four doors & rear center armrest. Any additional wood is a bonus like the wood trim on the roof of the LSh which even the new R-R Ghost doesn’t have. Coming to the GX, the wood on the dash is minimal & not very neatly integrated. Lexus can do better.
i think need more wood it is very nice
I had the SC 430, then an Infiniti M45 and now a GL 450, can’t wait to get the GX 460, 470 whatever! Can’t beat a Lesus!
sorry LeXus
please! my GL 450 nothing…not even bluetooth! $70 grand! yeah good ride but my $80 blueant has to function for bluetooth….......
I think it is aluminum like me M45 was… will have to see…. looks good to me….. you can have the wood in my GL 450 I will take the tech in Lexus anyday!!
