Tesla fans just can’t understand this, it creates a short lock in their brain, they are confused because Americans desire Toyota EVs.

I don't know how something as hideous and cumbersome as CCS got so much adoption in the first place. Must be a nightmare to carry a NACS-to-CCS adapter. That being said CCS is designed for 800V and up to 350kW while NACS in its current form won't get 1kV/500kW until 2025. Current specs of NACS is actually the slowest of the three on the market. If you've used a V3 supercharger (250kW peak) you know its average charging speed is actually more comparable to the 170kW CCS. I think all these big car companies chose the 2025 timeline for NACS adoption because 1kV won't be ready before then.

Japanese car makers really missed a big opportunity to push their standards globally. CHAdeMO 3.0 is the first ultrafast charging standard operating at 1.5kV and 600A for 900kW total and is adopted by China in 2020 (although current ones are mostly operating at 500V/400A for up to 200kW). It is designed from the start to charge trucks and small airplanes so it's very futureproof. Toyota's SSBs need at least 480kW average (80kWh in 10 minutes) charging speed by 2028 and it's already near the peak speed of NACS 2025 so NA models could fall behind global models in charging speed.

I like it as a Cayman competitor, but I find it too extreme for a daily driver.

25% of TMME sales is a lot right now for TMME, especially since they would be brand new models that need ramp up.

TMME is doing good with their hybrids now, I assume they see that falling off the cliff in certain countries where they are strong today.

"The enemy is CO2," Toyoda said, proposing a "multi-pathway approach" that doesn't rely on any particular powertrain. "Customers, not regulations or politics" should make the decision on what path to rely on, he said.

As per his statements, Toyota intends to adopt a multi-pronged strategy to reduce emissions, utilizing battery-electric vehicles (BEV) in addition to automobiles with internal combustion engine, hybrid, or hydrogen drivetrains. According to Toyoda, these other models would eventually make up 70% of the market. He did, however, forecast that sales of fully electric vehicles would remain at 30% "no matter how much progress BEVs make.”
