dunno, CT today looks stale and boring. And it is still expensive.

C-HR looks like a space ship next to it, that is why it is selling like crazy.

Completely correct, only, the UX is not a C-HR.

Agree, however the silver lining is that bigger wheels and a drop can fix this, though then it starts to look more like a hot hatch and less so a crossover.

When we worked on the UX above the stock wheels are very tiny and not very wide. I was shocked we got to fit a 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear on it with no issues (the wheels are Vossen FS-1 in gloss black). Tons of room. As the norm, anything lowered with larger good looking wheels improves the looks.

I have to disagree with MP here, while I am not very excited about the UX, I do feel the styling was nailed. When I inspected it I was shocked to come away with the feeling it didn't look cheap. I always felt the CT had some cues that just didn't speak premium, especially compared to its amazing looking concept.

Overall I just would love to see an AMG 45 fighter as a dark horse. We all know the UX 250 and 250h will sell with no issues.

I'm still somewhat interested in the UX. I have my concerns about the power/weight ratio on it, however. It would be nice if Lexus would offer it with the 2.5L hybrid system :grinning:.

I test drove the CT200H. It certainly didn't feel premium going up a bridge. All you could hear was engine noise. While the UX is probably not anemic, I really wish Lexus was offering an optional, higher power engine in the realm of 250hp. That could be quite fun.

As a Lexus Europian Enthusiast and proud owner of a Lexus I am telling that the UX will be the biggest failure in the history of Lexus. A missed opportunity for the company to see the future.

And C-HR is selling like crazy because people who can't afford a more expensive car to stand out in the crowd are choosing a more distinct (but less classic/timeless) design that will be outdated in the next couple of years... as usual! Lexus owners are not (in any way) among them...

that is certainly your opinion, which is fine... but to me CT looks old now, C-HR still looks fresh.

cool... thanks for the info. As to the F, there were rumors in Japanese mags about 1.6l (3cly?) turbo with 240hp for 2019.

Thats a bold prediction, and most likely wrong. This segment is the biggest growing one at the moment, and I think, and so does Lexus, that this could well become the best selling Lexus ever.

i doubt it will become best selling, because it is going to have lower sales in USA due to the nature/size of it.... but good selling, yes.

he doesnt like a design and wants an EV... both valid subjective opinions.

But Toyota has hit a huge run with relatively expensive C-HR vs competition and it will do the same with UX, imho. As long as it looks good in real life. C-HR also does not look great in 2D, where you dont see the stance, but in real life, I am still turning around when I see them in its 2nd year on the market, and I see more C-HR than Yaris or Auris, let alone any other Toyota's.

The design tightens up a lot on the Vossen-ized version, and I think the fact that it looks like a hot hatch then is at least partially intentional. That way the same car can be both a mini-CUV and a new CT at the same time depending on if you lower it.

Sounds like Infiniti's game plan with the Q30/QX30, which plays the warm hatch role with the lowered-suspension, no-cladding Sport models and the pseudo-CUV role with the higher-riding, cladding-bedecked "regular/X" models.

Right. I think Lexus arguably missed a step in terms of just making the F Sport version the lowered-on-dubs no-cladding "new CT", but I imagine the necessary lowering springs will be easily available from the usual suspects.

their plan was complete failure though... so i dont think that is what Lexus will do.

The QX30 even in sport is still a raised CUV. Its the weirdest thing. What is alarming is sales are off about 50-60% this year, only its second in existence. Not sure if this is an Infiniti issue or the vehicle/market itself. I need to see what the GLA is doing.
