“The global boss of Lexus, Takashi Watanabe, told a roundtable briefing with international media the brand’s high-performance F badge – a rival to BMW’s M division and Mercedes’s AMG – will be part of the company’s electric future.”

Looks like they are planning to unveil a new sedan

"The top-secret model is expected to bring Toyota and its luxury division Lexus – which, combined with other divisions, is the world’s largest automaker by volume – closer to delivering a genuine rival to electric-car leader Tesla."

Fingers crossed. Exciting times.

AMG GT's unexpected 4-seater version shocks the Lexus LFA II development team

The LFA II development team, who delivered a preview of the story in the opening scoop of issue 1, is in shock. Is it because of him, whose highly accurate prediction illustration was published in this magazine? That may be the case (?), but the main reason is that the Mercedes-AMG GT has evolved in an unexpected direction.

Even the FAⅡ development team couldn't hide their surprise.

It is said that The LFA II is being developed as a two-seater, and the packaging has been completed, so it is not yet possible to add a rear seat to the design. The development team is wondering if Morizo's chairman, Akio Toyoda, will say, "Let's change the LF AI to a 4-seater" as if in response to Bal's unexpected body enlargement and 4-seater configuration. Maybe he's nervous.

His 42 V8 twin turbo in the new AMG GT is available in two versions: 469ps version and 577ps version. It is combined with 4MATIC+, which has a variable front/rear drive force distribution from 0:100 to 50:50.

The second-generation AMG GT, which was unveiled at the Pebble Beach d'Elegance in August, has an overall length of approximately 180 mm and a wheelbase that has been extended by 70 mm. Expanding his body would be a no-no for a sports car that prides itself on its high performance, but in exchange, the car has been reborn as a car with seats for two more people, allowing him to select the rear seat. Whether you need a rear seat or not, whether you use it or not, there's value in having a choice. This has L

After 25 years

A rear seat can be added as an option. Equipped with a hands-free electric hatch gate.

●Overall length x width x height: 4500mm x 1895mm x 1240mm ●Powertrain: 4ℓV8 turbo hybrid ●Chassis: Newly developed FR platform

LFAⅡ rear view reproduced in the previous issue. Perhaps because the transaxle system places some components at the rear, large ducts are installed on the left and right sides of the bumper.

Expected announcement time

Interesting that they seem to be (if true) benchmarking the AMG GT. Maybe they're trying to make a high-end sports car with more production volume rather than an exclusive track supercar this time. Not exactly fond of the idea of it being treated as an LFA successor if that's the case.

Or maybe they're only comparing the AMG GT in terms of design. Since I do see similarities to the proportions of the GT3 concept and renderings with the long hood and low profile.

If they do end up making it a 2+2 somehow, it'll be closer to an LC F than a proper LFA successor imo.

LEXUS LFA trademark filed in Israel 25/08/2023
LFA trademark filed Philippines 22/08/2023
LFA trademark filed Chile 28/07/2023

Previously in 2022 they had filed a bunch of LFR and LEXUS LFR trademarks.
I had heard another last letter i won't mention, prior to that.

LF? -> LFR -> LFA seems to be what they landed on.

So I guess we're getting a new LFA.

Isn't it going to be LFR as the production version of the Lexus GT3, and LFA II the fully EV supercar in 2030?

Around the launch of the LFA, I remember Akio made the comment about every generation "deserving to have an LFA."

I would love it if they stuck with the name and made such a car every decade and a half or so. Why do we need LFR, LFS, etc. when they will all kind of represent the same thing as the LFA?

Lexus, please build some heritage behind a coupe/sports car name - for once!
