The body lines, particularly the way the rear end slopes down, looks a lot like the Lexus Electrified Sport concept to me. I tend to think it will be sold under the Lexus brand.

That being said, rumors are the new mid-engine car will be named "Celica" instead of "MR2", so Toyota/Lexus isn't immune from doing dumb things.

I was recently at my local Lexus dealership and the salesman said he believes there's a chance it may be sold under Lexus in the US at least, I don't have high hopes however.

Bruh the hood design from 00:40 and on is straight up Lexus. If this is marketed as Toyota, then personally, I’m done with Lexus. No need to give my interest or money to a company that doesn’t appreciate their own assets. Toyota responded to someone asking if it will be a lexus and their response was “not saying yes….not saying no”

It debuted inside a Toyota GR Garage. On a personal note I wish I knew about this as I would have gone to goodwood. I also wasn’t at the LFA event where the car was shown. My interest and passion has dwindled. Hopefully it’s just temporary. IMG_1104.png

I still can’t understand what’s so difficult about putting a Lexus badge on this car. Why is it always about taking away what rightfully belongs to Lexus? I’ve honestly never seen a company as ridiculous as Toyota. This is beyond absurd, it’s something that defies common sense. It’s like telling me the next generation of the 911 won’t wear a Porsche badge, but will carry the Volkswagen logo instead. Do they not realize how tragic that would be?

If this car debuts as a Toyota and Lexus gets an electrified version how will you guys feel about that?

I’ve waited nearly five years for this LFR, and now, being betrayed at the final stage is something I cannot accept. An EV supercar is meaningless, aside probably from being an early showcase of next gen technology, I don’t see anyone actually buying it. With the global EV trend slowing down, I really don’t understand the point of building this electric sports car. One thing I’m sure of, if they go ahead with it, it won’t sell.

Never thought I'd have to say it, but I'm not buying a 250k Toyota. Crazy they chose to alienate the few enthusiasts they had left by offering an LFA successor as a Toyota. I'd sooner get whatever underwhelming 2.0L 4-cyl they gently place in the RC/LC replacement.
If this car were under the Lexus badge, I’d seriously consider buying it. But not as a Toyota. I’m not paying that kind of money for a Toyota logo, especially for a car that was never meant to be one in the first place.

Lexus has posted the Toyota instagram post as their story so maybe they’re involved too.

Except the car first debuted as a GR concept? It’s not like they bamboozled us last second and switched to GR. I believe we’ll be getting both a GR and a Lexus variant.

About 4-5 years ago at the Lexus Performance Driving School, Scott Pruett told the group that Lexus was developing a new supercar called the LFR. It would use the twin-turbo V8 originally planned for the LC F, paired with a hybrid system. At the time, he didn’t mention anything about the GR GT or GR GT3. So it was pretty clear, even back then that this car was intended to be the LFR, Lexus’ top tier halo model.
