Shown tonight alongside the new GR GT was a Lexus concept we’ve seen before: The Lexus Sport Concept, which debuted at Pebble Beach in August.

What’s new? That concept has now been renamed as the LFA Concept, indicating Lexus’ vision for a future battery-powered sports car. Where the GR GT packs a hybrid twin-turbo V8, the new LFA Concept will be purely electric. The new LFA, GR GT, and GR GT3 have been developed together and will share technology and platform commonalities.

I want him to make a total exposé on the downfall of Lexus and talk about how they overpromised and underdelivered with these cars. I want 15 minutes of reading material from Gecko I know he has it in him. 😂😂

We need to talk about the stillborn F cars, the GS, LS, LC... all of it.

I'm kind of thinking podcast for that? Like a year end edition? Need some other folks to do it with me.

2025 has been a pivotal year for Lexus.

Podcast, Reddit post, NYT Opinion piece... anything. Car enthusiasts and journalists are happy about TMC's current state (to be fair I'm not completely "unhappy" either) but they don't really understand what's truly going on deep down at TMC.

You need something that will generate a lot of reach and have tens of thousands of people seeing this, and eventually the entire enthusiast community. I do think you could pull it off on your own if nobody else that's close to TMC wants to join, but perhaps they can send you messages that you can read and divulge your message to the general public but also masking your sources as anonymous users. After that, all it will take is for users here to spread the message on different platforms.

I think a lesson learned for me personally is to not doubt BestCar's scoops. Their recent track record is almost 100% accurate. I think their poor predictions on Lexus F cars (which made me dismiss them in the first place) caught them by surprise as well. When BestCar post high detail renders, it means they have seen the real car. GS-F/LC-F/LS-F/LF-1 were real, and their last-minute cancellations have to be personal command from Akio Toyoda himself. He's the only person capable of making this kind of decision on four projects that reached design freeze and had advanced engineering prototypes. BestCar's whole coverage on GR GT/LFR/LFA II has gradually evolved to be entirely accurate by September 2025. A good example is them insisting the Lexus BEV will be called the LFA, NOT LFR. I have always thought it as a ridiculous idea but here we are.

These are the kind of details that you need to add @Gecko so you can give not only the car community, but also TMC a big, proverbial slap across the face. Given you said that these cars were real, we need people to actually have some hard evidence to see for themselves and for them to truly understand what's going on behind closed doors.

That's almost impossible because BestCar never admit they have internal sources in any of the Japanese car companies, even though we are 99.9% sure that's actually the case. And I suppose in other parts of the world similar people have NDAs and even if NDAs expire they don't want to burn their bridges.

You can be sure that there's a lot of private parties that would be willing to leak a thing or two anonymously. There's a handful of people within these forums that know a lot of information.

I was under the assumption the GR GT was going to be Lexus LFR (if Lexus won the bid) and the LFA II was going to be the BEV. Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

Lexus got lazy and reused the LFA moniker to official name this Lexus Sport Concept (made with all-aluminum as opposed to CF) as LFA BEV. Lexus should have left the LFA moniker alone and leave it exclusively with the LFA 10 (V10 (1LR-GUE)) model.

Maybe they are creating a variant of the LFA line??? Lexus then should have brought in the convertible LFA and this LFA BEV back in 2011.

LFA
LFA Nürburgring edition
LFA Convertible
LFA BEV

I don't think the LFA BEV will sell much if any...EV tax credits in the U.S. expired as well (September 30, 2025).

It appears Lexus has been pushed aside and obviously not a priority. Toyota expanded the Crown line with 4 variants, creating an ultra-luxury brand with Century (Sedan, CUV and Coupe) and now the Toyota GR GT and GR GT3.

Lexus should have created this Sport Concept into the LFR and LFR BEV. Toyota and Lexus seemed to have a hard time finding a good name since Nissin has the GTR (Godzilla) so Toyota could not use the GTR moniker and went with GR GT and GR GT3. Lexus can use the LFR moniker and we all know that R stands for Racing...

I started with the headline, The Sport Concept Has Been Renamed to "LFA Concept" 😶‍🌫️
LOL that would've worked.
Or even "Lexus wasted our time by convincing us of a production V8 sports car that ended up being an electric disgraceful revival of the legendary LFA" but that may be too long.
