Probably not the right forum to post, but did anyone else see this? VW dealers are suing VW HQ because of Scout. Now, their reasoning is because they want to sell Scout and Scout is an online shopped vehicle.
BUT the reason I bring it here is because what if Lexus dealers threaten to sue because they DON'T want to sell GR and Century? I wonder if Toyota would actually listen to us then. Just food for thought...

I agree. This also means Lexus Racing is effectively dead (atleast for now). Had the LFA had the option of a combustion engine and gt3 variant, this could've been avoided.

There’s no way TMC would put 2 GT3’s in production at the same time…

It would be the opposite problem. Toyota dealerships may sue Toyota corporate because they already sell GR cars from their dealership, and now suddenly lose that right to Lexus dealerships, or potential standalone GR dealerships. We already saw this happen with Genesis, Lincoln, and Polestar - spoiler alert: the dealerships all won in court or the manufacturers had to pay large sums to settle with them. I think Polestar was the only one to somewhat get away with it because they are now no longer owned by Volvo.

With that track record, you can see why the VW dealerships suing VW corporate for spinning off Scout think they have a good chance of winning in court.

Its only at select dealers to begin with. They have to buy into sell. Its not like they are being shoved gr and century models down people's throats.

If it’s just something like the GR GT showing up in Lexus showrooms, I can probably live with that at this point at least it fits the “flagship” vibe. What really pisses me off is I really can’t imagine Lexus owners being okay with seeing cars like the GR86 or GR Corolla those more entry level cheaper stuff sitting in the same showroom with Lexus🤬. It just feels off 🤦🏻‍♂️ Not just about the cars themselves, it’s more like the whole brand line gets blurred, it leaves a weird feeling…..

This is what they should have done with F a decade ago.

Most Lexus dealers are not qualified to sell a F car at all. The salespeople who are only accustomed to sell RX350 with zero effort know nothing about the car. And they put in no effort to make sure the customer can get what they want if the existing car in inventory is not to their liking. You need personal connections with the dealership to even arrange inter-dealer transfers. I couldn't recall how many times I walked into nearby Lexus dealers and they kept saying "these cars are very rare maybe try to come back in 6 months", and they didn't even call me when they got new IS500/LC500/RCF in stock. The only time a salesperson showed a hint of enthusiasm was when an IS500 was flipped several times to $90k and they were left holding the bag.

Compare that to the BMW dealer I've been visiting. They always allow me to order the exact car I want at MSRP as long as I can wait for the delivery period. I wanted to buy a M3 MT but didn't like the color and walked away. 5 days later the salesperson asked if I'm interested in an inter-dealer transfer (for a fee of course). I really hated the G80 grille so didn't proceed with the purchase and got the 440Xi MT instead. The only German brand with a similar experience to Lexus is Audi, but that only applied to the RS cars which are quite rare compared to M/AMG. Shopping for an S car is pretty straightforward.

I am happy about century being with Lexus. The only circumstances at ALL in which GR should be in Lexus showrooms is if they are a genuinely upmarket brand and they don't badge Toyota products. As long as those two things aren't the case this whole exercise is just plain dumb.

Very rarely do I comment on the forums. However, may I say for many years I've had the privilege of knowing the individual who is responsible for launching the GR brand and specifically the GR GT in the US. Knowing him, to my mind, there is no doubt the introduction of the brand through some select Lexus dealerships will be successful in every regard ...

Every Lexus dealership that wants to be a GR dealership pretty much have already committed. GR GT training is starting mid-May. Every GR dealership must choose a GR GT Meister who will represent the GR product and ultimately be the GR Salesperson. No idea yet on if all GR products will be sold only through a GR dealership. Sounds a bit weird to sell a GR Corolla at a Lexus dealership but we will have to wait and see. I work for a Lexus dealership in the Denver area, 18 years. I have the honor of being our GR GT Meister! My training will be for 4 days early in June. First day is classroom, 2nd and 3rd are full race days with racing suits and helmets! I am hoping we get to drive the GR GT's at near their limits!! Then the last day is back in the classroom. I cannot wait! 12 sessions with 12 Meisters per session. So only 144 dealerships opted in? We will see.

Lexus has sent out and email asking about our back ground with this segment, racing experience and my favorite cars and cars I have owned. I have had 45 cars in the last 26 years so not enough space to list them all. lol.

I am very excited, trilled, honored and elated to be part of the GR GT program! Looks like we are getting started early in training even though we do not even have a launch date yet. Hope there will be more sessions to come with other GR products!

I am curious as to the next Supra and the LC replacement product. I hope Gazoo Racing uses the current LC chassis as the base for the MK6 Supra and takes the LC500 to the next level in performance with AWD, Hybrid assisted and twin Turboed V8. But that might be too much as we are approaching the GR GT performance levels. I am sure Toyota would not want to compete with it's own products. Maybe a Luxury Coupe with AWD, V8 Turbos and Hybrid? A Luxury Coupe version of the GR GT to compete with Luxury German Coupes? Perhaps a GR LC? I'm just dreaming! Also hoping the MR2 will be a Gazoo Racing product along with the Celica.
