Front End design

I love the Lexus brand and all the quality that goes with Toyota engineering. Maybe it's my Teutonic genes, but rule number one for luxury cars should be understated elegance. It isn't just the pronounced proboscis (as W C Fields would say) but all the overworked lines on the exterior. And it's true for most modern auto design these days. Lexus isn't just an ordinary car though. Ten years ago the Lexus line up was really easy to look at. A trip to Porsche Design wouldn't hurt.

There is no question that the Lexus SUV is a great car. For many reasons other than its design, I would have bought it. After all, reliability and ride enjoyment trump the appearance of a front grill.

I have to differ respectively. I do think that the RX is poised to grow further as they are offering more models and appealing to more price groups.

I think you are correct. My projection is on the conservative side. The 5RX will have 4 variants, RX 350, RX 350h, RX 450h+ and RX 500h and varying price points. The masses won't care that the V6 is gone and the RX 500h should appease the enthusiasts. Lexus should be able to increase their market share with the 5RX and maybe taking away NX would be buyers. GX buyers are different and I believe the 3GX will be a slight departure from the current GX? Maybe I should increase my 2023 RX projection to 116,000? If so Lexus would have the highest selling vehicle ever of all time.

We should see what the projections are quite soon I believe. Side note, although the RX and NX are at the same plant, the RX has been less effected by the shortages then the NX.

When I purchased mine, I had to make the decision between a 22 and waiting for a 23. I decided on the 22 because I didn't want a 4 cyl. My wife has a 4 banger turbo in her caddy, very whiny. So ATPIT I'm happy with my choice.

Great choice with going with the V6 which will last alot longer with fewer issues down the long road. I'm sure the refinement is better with the V6 compared to the I4 especially over time. It's crazy to think that the RX from the beginning had a V6 and now the engine has downsized...

I have a feeling we'll see lots of issues with the 4 cylinder in the future such as replacing turbos, replacing head gaskets, engine rebuilds, etc...

Thx, my thoughts exactly. Unfortunately an 8 cyl wasn't a choice (just wishful thinking) but I was happy with the 6. I'm not totally convinced that the 6 (or even the 8 for that matter) couldn't be made more fuel efficient.

Sales are solid. No wonder Lexus will never have any X5 M and Cayenne Turbo competitor. But BEV is a different game…they better have performance BEVs…
