The Sienna just outsold the Odyssey, so I don't think there's really any confusion and it seems like the hybrid is more successful than the V6 before it, so.....

I feel the current Odyssey is a loss. The saggy rear side profile...gross:

Officially released in China. After 23 years, finally a worthy challenger to GL8.

Don't doubt it will sell like hot cakes. similar price, half the fuel consumption, brand-new vs. 30-year-old chassis. They already sell 2500 Alphards a month at 4x price!

We have a Sienna in the motor pool at work. I've been really impressed with it. Easy to drive, easy on gas. If I had 2 kids, we'd have a Sienna.

Why CUVs don’t have sliding doors is incomprehensible. They are so much more practical which apparently it the purpose of CUVs.

It's 100% comprehensible. Sliding doors = minivan = you are not cool. I think that's dumb (that bagged Sienna looks extremely sick) but it is what it is.

Because sliding doors are significantly more complicated, more expensive, and less reliable than traditional doors. Manufacturers don't have to design interlocks to prevent your kid from opening a swinging door into your gas door when you are filling up at the gas station. Swinging doors are perfectly acceptable without a power opening mechanism. People spending $45k on a Highlander would expect sliding doors to be power operated. More cost, more complication, lower reliability.

There's definitely a vanity element, but there are a ton of practical reasons, too.

1st Place: Toyota Sienna

HIGHS: Gas-savvy hybrid, four-wheel traction, a place for everything.
LOWS: Looks only a parent could love, sounds like a Shop-Vac, could use an infotainment update.
VERDICT: A comfy companion whether the road trip is great or a disaster.

Our Sienna AWD with Michelin cross-climate 2s is an incredible Winter performer in even the sketchiest mountain passes in extreme weather conditions.

Front legroom of 40.3 inches is abysmal. Absolutely abysmal.
