Every story i hear about the company is a horror show.
Nothing to admire about a bloviated, coasting on laurels behemoth that mistreats people and is led by ignorant, hateful, egomaniacal old dinosaurs.
So this is what they meant when they said Toyota would catch up with Tesla...

I am genuinely puzzled, why do people keep linking to this channel, especially on a Lexus forum here? Why? These two act like spoiled children in their videos and often use bad language. Any automakers associating with this channel should be embarrassed. These two often act incredibly disrespectful in their videos. On top of that, the owner/lead of the channel has multiple times admitted on video that he is a massive Honda fanboy, and the co-lead is also a pretty big Honda fan.
Anything they say about Toyota and Lexus should be taken with grain of salt. More than that, people need to stop watching this channel simply because these two have the mentality and behavior of spoiled, disrespectful children.
Honestly, if you’d watched their ES review, you wouldn’t be saying this. They were super positive about it and clearly understood the car’s target audience and purpose. And the LC? He literally leased one himself at one point.
Whenever they review a Lexus, they always throw in that soft spot about how the cars run forever, don’t break, and why people keep buying them.
What he said in the latest video is also true. I don’t see how stating facts suddenly makes someone a hater all of a sudden.
These guys opinions don't matter more or less then ours but it's fun to watch. Except when they both spit ProschAH out of their mouths! Ewww... Anyway they are right about one thing and that's pretty major one: Toyota everyday cars got a ton better at everything. We knew over a decade ago that power gadgets will not be considered luxury no more, that insulation wont be considered luxury no more, that wood trim won't be considered luxury no more, screens, big shiny wheels. Everyone knew that including Lexus guys but they just couldn't find the alternative. The easiest way was different engine like Land Cruiser vs GX550 but in order to pull that off someone had to think in advance for both Toyota and Lexus.

I'm a fan of SavageGeese and I think that video was fair. Toyota cars have improved greatly, Lexus vehicles have advanced marginally which makes the space between them more narrow than it's ever been.
Like @mediumhot mentions... screens, tech, design, and even engines are now fairly standard across both Toyota and Lexus, so naturally you'd look for Lexus to offer more in the way of luxury, leather, trims, premium appointments, etc. but Lexus has lost much of that over the last decade. Even the Lexus dealer experience has gone downhill.
The other point I thought was fair is that big audacious engineering projects like the LFA -- or even in the old days, an LS -- trickle down to the other, lesser cars in the lineup. As Lexus has retreated from these exercises and become more Toyota+ in execution, the ability to ever catch up to what the Germans are doing becomes less and less likely. At some point, you're just out of the game too long and the moment has passed.
We're in wild times where Lexus doesn't have competitive BEVs, gas engines, or technology... and isn't leading in reliability either.

I personally wouldn't touch a high-tech Stellantis engine with a 10 foot pole. Every single new tech they added to this engine is a failure point that is almost guaranteed to break after warranty expires, especially given their QC. But it seems the "overly ambitious" specs for the upcoming Toyota 2.0T isn't that ambitious after all. The Hurricane 4 2.0T is rated at 324hp and 450N.m which is almost the same specific output as the Euro-spec G16E-GTS. The BSFC is ~210g/kWh (40% thermal efficiency). And they are achieving these specs with 87AKI/92RON regular fuel. Keep in mind we are talking about a mass market engine that's supposed to be used on family crossovers and trucks, not a specialized performance engine. It's crazy we are now seeing 2.4 bar (35psi) of boost pressure in a mass market engine.
It pushes the specific output to 120kW/L which means over 1050°C exhaust temperature. The most mature variable nozzle turbochargers commercially available operate at 950°C max corresponds to ~100kW/L (VW limits their EA888 Evo 5 to this exact spec: 200kW from a 2.0T). Stellantis is definitely pushing the boundary of reliability here. But by the time the G20 series comes out (rumored to be 100-110kW/L) 1000°C+ VNTs should be the standard on the market.

I think more realistically Toyota should be aiming for 100kW/L and 200N.m/L to keep the turbos reliable. Toyota is trying to save money by stretching the 2.0T to cover 3 displacement classes, but I highly doubt a 400PS class 2.0T I4 can be as reliable as a 3.0T V6 in the same output class. More conservative rating across multiple displacement classes is a much better strategy:
1.5T@150kW(201hp)/300N.m(221lb.ft): perfect replacement for A25.
2.0T@200kW(268hp)/400N.m(295lb.ft): partially replaces T24 for transverse platform non-BOF products (NX, RX, GH etc.), lost performance can be compensated by hybridization.
2.4T@240kW(322hp)/480N.m(354lb.ft): upgraded T24 with better specs for BOF.
3.0T@300kW(402hp)/600N.m(442lb.ft): partially replaces V35 for longitudinal platform non-BOF products (if there is any left)

If these two were big Toyota and Lexus fans, I still wouldn't watch them. Them sometimes saying nice things about Toyota or Lexus changes nothing for me. Completely putting aside brand bias, the biggest problem is these two act like children and often use bad language. No reasonable, mature person can just excuse this away or defend this. These two embody almost every bad stereotype of car enthusiasts.
In the same way I almost completely ignore Kirk Kreifels, even though he's a big Toyota and Lexus fan. He too often acts childish in his videos.
I strongly agree with what mikeavelli has said in the past, which is that automotive Youtube is a giant mess, just like automotive legacy media is mostly a giant mess as well.

Seems like more stuff is trickling down from Lexus to Toyota!
Maybe the wrong forum. Been a prod F owner, not the LFA, but both RC F and GS F, as well as LC 500. Also had several other Lexus models, currently the RX. So, for me the RX 500h, is maybe the last option, not perfect but interesting enough. Sad to hear that the GR GT3, will not have a Lexus badge and nothing comparable. Pure electric cars is nothing for me. So, maybe a RX 500h and then I’m out of Lexus after like more than 25 years a Lexus fan. Please, why do you trash a good brand?

I’m in almost the exact same situation. It hurts me a lot to say this brand is trash now. We owned IS, RX, NX, ES, and now GX and LC. More than a decade of loyalty to Lexus. From the moment I got my driver’s license, every car I chose was a Lexus. That trust, that excitement, that passion once truly meant something. But now, all of that is gone.
So, Lexus, don’t blame people for calling your cars “boring” again, It isn’t hate, it’s just the truth.
