Let's hope the weld points on the A pillars don't fail during crash testing.

I think the rest of Europe will follow soon. This generation LS also did not sell much in Russia, even before Lexus left the market.

Benz will keep not only the V8 but also the V12

If Benz can make V12 pass emissions regulations, I have to question Toyota's engineering competence when a I4 hybrid is the best they can do.

It seems the Germans are waking up from the BEV dream and realize their ICE legacy is what makes them great.
At this point, it’s no longer about emissions, Lexus can’t use that excuse anymore.

More like couldn't be bothered instead of not being able to.

I mean, if you are able to make big money while barely lifting a finger, wouldn't you want to continue as it is?

Luxury isn’t just about sales it’s about halos and being in the appropriate segments. Acura has always been bashed for not having a proper flagship. Infiniti tried. Lexus had great success. Cadillac gave up. Porsche entered it as Genesis. BMW figured it out with its current generation. Audi still struggles. Benz is laughing all the way to the bank.

I just feel strongly if Lexus offered a proper V-8 for the price of a V-6 S class they would milk it. A 5500 lbs LS PHEV V-8 makes sense. Once they nail the styling. Go back to something more upright and square. I have no doubt in my mind it would sell like crazy. They will surely nail the interior, tech and drive. Surely they will have hybrid.

Fingers also crossed

How long will that work? (see Audi…)
TMC these days is treating Lexus as if it's mainly just a nicer mainstream brand instead of a proper luxury brand, as long as they sell in big numbers, it's all good, even if it might become a bad thing in the long term. IMO the slightly ironic thing is, Lexus is going towards the boring brand direction, a direction that Toyota is trying to move away from.

As long as plenty of people keep buying their cookie cutter fwd based uniboby SUVs, I doubt TMC is going to change their mind with Lexus.

They still can’t escape the fact that they are seen as a boring brand by the public. They tried to break this stereotype, but they didn’t stick with it. Honestly, I think the golden decade for Lexus was from the launch of the IS F in 2007 to the debut of the LC 500 in 2017. During this period, they introduced the LFA, RC F, and GS F , and these cars that will always be classics in the hearts of Lexus fans. I guess many of us here started to follow the brand during this time, at least I know I did.

I once imagined that Lexus would continue developing multiple generations of F models. Look at M and AMG owners, they never have to worry about whether their cars will be discontinued because they know BMW and MB would never cancel the next generation development of the M3/M4/M5, or C63/E63/S63. But as Lexus fans, we have to deal with this uncertainty. We have to worry about what we can buy if the LC 500 or RC F gets discontinued, or more importantly, what in Lexus’ lineup would still appeal to us. I think this is something Lexus really needs to reflect on. By continuing to do what they are doing now, they are eventually pushing away the loyal customers who have supported them.

How do the 2027 emission requirements affect the 5.0 V8? I know there was one rumor that the IS will continue offering the V8, and if that's the case, could a new LS use a V8 hybrid? Basically the return of the LS600h drivetrain, maybe as a PHEV?

Toyota doesnt respect or appreciate it's customers.

Legacy nameplates arent something to be revered, they are tools for tricking customers.

It is the most cold and short sighted treatment of customers I see from any car maker.

Toyota isn't boring, it's actually worse. Toyota is a mysanthropic and contemptuous company.

Ask yourself, does this sound like a company you know?

Contemptuous behavior is characterized by a deep-seated disdain or scorn toward others. People who are contemptuous often display a sense of superiority and disrespect for those they perceive as beneath them. Here are a few key aspects of contemptuous behavior:

1. **Disrespect and Disregard**: Contemptuous individuals show little to no respect for the feelings, opinions, or rights of others. They may dismiss others' contributions, ideas, or efforts without consideration.

2. **Superiority Complex**: They often believe they are inherently better, smarter, or more capable than others. This perceived superiority can lead to belittling or mocking others.

3. **Sarcasm and Ridicule**: Contemptuous people frequently use sarcasm, ridicule, and demeaning language to undermine or humiliate others. Their communication style can be cutting and hurtful.

4. **Lack of Empathy**: They struggle to empathize with others' experiences or emotions. This lack of empathy can make them appear callous and unfeeling.

5. **Manipulative Tactics**: Contemptuous individuals may use manipulation to achieve their goals, seeing others as mere tools to be used for their own benefit.

6. **Indifference to Social Norms**: They may disregard social norms, rules, or expectations, acting in ways that are socially unacceptable or harmful without concern for the consequences.

Contemptuous behavior can be damaging to relationships and social environments, as it erodes trust, respect, and collaboration. It creates a toxic atmosphere where individuals feel undervalued and disrespected.

Yeah, the pricing on the 4Runner and Tacoma core enthusiast trims (ORP and PRO) make that pretty evident. It's super irritating.
