It could be a ford fusion.. it’s like a weird mix of 2000s American cars…. it’s really bad in person, The last generation could have damn near passed as a luxury car in comparison

I saw my first new Honda Accord on the road a few days ago as it was passing me (so I did not see the front). I thought it was a Kia econobox.

Just history about to repeat itself. Every time Honda drops the ball on the accord Toyota picks it up with the Camry. The only exception is probably the current generation Camry and the previous generation Honda. So, I'm looking forward to what Toyota will do with the next Camry.

Was on a roadtrip and one of my friend's who's relatively into cars saw the new Accord on the road and pointed it out like "What the hell, is that the new Accord? It looks so old!" and I was like... yup.... Later on she commented on a Camry TRD we saw on the road talking about how good it looks haha.

If we look at 2023 sales figures, the Camry outsold the Accord by 93k units. The 5/6 year old Camry outsold the brand new Accord by a giant margin. The Camry was 7th in sales and Accord 15th overall. This is wild as these cars used to sell evenly.

What is impressive is how well the IS sells for being 15 year old and compared to other sedans. That Lexus did not redesign the car is beyond understanding.

To take it further it’s admirable as the IS was never a volume sedan seller. The ES was and continues to do so.

ES-39k and its older
IS-22k and it’s a heavy refresh
In comparison
16k TLX which is a merge of TSX and TL, We are talking a combined 80-90k units in its heyday. What a disaster
13k G70.
6k Q50 is is literally a decade old like the IS but without the heavy refresh. We can argue it aged well. G35/37 sold very well for the brand I think 40-50k range in its heyday (including coupe).

What we have is Lexus figured how to have two sedans at the same price and others can’t figure one out.

Yeah it’s stayed solid. Used to be over 100k a year in its hey day. Their X3 more than makes up for it.

The market for smaller (compact, 3-Series, C-Class, IS) sport sedans and coupes is relatively strong but is weak for mid- (5-Series, E-Class, GS) and full-size (7-Series, S-Class, LS) .

Lexus, please don't neglect and abandon the IS, it's currently your only sedan that's actually sporty.

Even BMW isn't super keen at turning all their cars into refrigerator on wheels and still wants to continue investing in and producing ICE cars.
