2012 Lexus RX 350 & RX 450h Information

Lexus has announced the 2012 Lexus RX 350, which will see two changes from the 2011 model: first, like all 2012 Lexus models, Nebula Grey Pearl will replace Smoky Granite Mica, and second, the fuel recommendation has been lowered from 91-octane to 87-octane.

The 2012 RX 450h was also announced — Nebula Grey Pearl to Smoky Granite Mica is the only change.

That should help get some extra customers! It sort of lowers the status of the car, but meh... lol

    Of all the things that should affect a car's status, I really hope the octane rating isn't one of them. That's just taking things too far.

Great news on the fuel octane rating.  I sell these RX's at a West Coast Lexus dealership.  They account for 50- 55% of our monthly sales.  Wonderful vehicle.

Does anybody know if they are changing the remote touch system in order to have it "click" rather than the enter button on either side?

    that probably wont happen until the mid refresh, or even the completely new design in 2016

    Not for 2012, at the very least. I don't know, I used the second-gen Remote Touch in the GS, and as a first impression, I prefer the Enter buttons.

    The rivision to the Mouse sytem will not come until Fall of 2012. Many exciting changes are coming to attract an even larger base to the RX lineup.

    With the new Remote Touch controller, the mouse clicks down like a button when you want to select an option.

The RX350 has the same engine as the Camry V6 and has identical output specs. Why it ever recommended the use of premium fuel in the first place is beyond me. The only possible explanation I can come up with is that Lexus purposefully did this to make their RX customers feel better about the car's "premium" status... still ridiculous though.

This is a blooming ugly car whatever the colour.   The second gen was much nicer to look at.   No doubt third is better overall but I could'nt have one on the drive.  Sorry RX fans.  Front end looks terrible and likewise C pillar on.

ydooby, I suspect they lowered the compression ratio a little to be able to recommend regular fuel. That is why the HP dropped to by 5 HP and the torque also dropped a little.

The RX350 / RX450h exterior design is way past its time for a new modern future looking design. This exterior design has not changed much in years! It is now being called ugly and to the point that Many of us are looking elsewhere to buy a good looking high tech SUV. The RX450h has high tech under the hood but that is not good enough. The Lexus management needs to wake up and if they are already up they need to Fire their design team, as they are screwing you, in providing this same old same old design over and over! The RX350 / RX450h is one of the best high tech hybrid SUV's out there, but it looks like an old tin can after all these years.

Ah yes.....The RX350F, with its new front and rear bumpers, the paddle shifters and  8 speed transmission..and no the engine stays the same.....go figure..............It will look fast, but won't be............They are hoping more men will buy this version......Any true "power guy" won't even bother......It won't be a ISF............

I wish if they worked a bit on the road noise. It is not quite as the GS or the LS. So, better have the music on all time :) Mine is: RX 350 2010

     Just test drove a 2012 RX 350 and was surprised at the level of road noise, but saying that i ordered a 2013

Yeah one more thing, I find the plastic interior and dashboard .. well.. rubish but not bad. It should have the new GS leather trimmings

Say what you want.  I've run a 2004 RX 330 over 140,000 miles.  the only rep[air has been a $200 component in the computer and a power steerinfg pump.  Previously had a 1993 LS 400 with over 300 K. Luv em!

My 2011 rx 350 sounds very loud on ,idle,park,and acceleration. Worse with a/c on. Road noise very loud. Not the luxury ride i hoped for. Anybody else have same problem? I took it to dealer . They said for 2011 they think there is a ceramic part in fuel system making engine louder, and the exhaust has been tuned for less back pressure. Stated 2010 was quieter. Still no excuse for wind,tire,road noise. I still like the way it drives, and am relying on reputation for future good results. Traded in acura mdx 10.5 yrs old 85k, perfect condition and quieter.

    Re: wind noise.  If you have the luggage rack cross beams, take your RX to the dealer and have them removed.  I've read enough Lexus blogs to determine that as your solution to the "whoosh" heard at 50+MPH.  At the very least, move them to the rear-most position.

    Have a 2004 es330 and 2011 rx350.  ES is definitely quieter.  Rx350 is quite truckish in comparison, with louder engine growl, stiffer steering, and firmer suspension.  I've also ridden in previous generation RX, and I found it comparable to my ES330.  So Lexus definitely took a the new RX to a different direction...  some of it is definitely result of cost-cutting.  Your car is not any different than any other Rx350.  This car is just loud.

I've been driving my new 2012 RX350 a month now.  Under 10 mph it revs a few seconds then catches. Anybody experience this?  Thank you for your help!
