What Should the Next-Generation Lexus SC Look Like?

For the cover of their latest issue, Best Car has taken a guess at what the rumored next-generation Lexus SC might look like.

The Japanese magazines have standardized on a look for this new Lexus super-coupe — compare the image above with this rendering from Holiday Auto:

Before the RC F was released, I would have thought these designs were too “concept car”, but now I’m convinced that the next Lexus coupe will stay true to the LF-LC concept. Of course, I also expect the design will be modernized and adjusted — after all, the LF-LC was released three years ago and the Lexus design has matured quite a bit.

So how accurate do you think these renderings will be?

I hope that they'll make this as light as possible yet still structurally rigid, unlike the RC F which is quite heavy.

I simply hope Lexus brings an amazing SC and LS with updated design lines and powerful engines as Infiniti has truly stepped up and entered the race to build exciting automobiles with the Q80 Inspiration Concept. Lexus always dominated overall between the vehicles produced by the two brands however early on Infiniti made vehicles that were uniquely designed and personal. When Lexus introduced the SC, it too brought that futuristic and very personalized luxury experience. I understand the Q80 will be a Panamera rival however I also understand the next LS will also be a Panamera rival with four door coupe like lines. The Japanese luxury sector is heating up once more - including Acura with its upcoming NSX. These brands have become serious about taking top tier market share and that will ensure Lexus introduces formidable products in the areas of design and features. I've seen so many renderings of the next generation SC however none of the upcoming LS as a Panamera rival (any creatives please feel free to post drawings). Such a great time to be an auto enthusiast.

    I think I can affirm that Lexus is focused on introducing formidable product features. I serve on what they call 'The Lexus Advisory Board' which I had never heard of until they requested my participation. We are being surveyed extensively on a regular basis about new product features among other things. . . amazing stuff! You are right, it is an exciting time awaiting the new LS and SC. I hope the growing pains particularly in the area of performance oriented design yield a new level of sophistication that will appeal to the most sophisticated of drivers. Driver's who will be so wowed . . . they want only to drive Lexus thereafter. This is Toyoda-san's goal he stated years ago. I hope this new LS knocks our sox off!

    I purchased a Lexus IS350C almost a year ago. And, less than 3 months later I, too, was also invited to join The Lexus Advisory Board. Prior to purchasing Black Beauty, I had never driven a Lexus, wasn't familiar with the Brand and didn't know the IS350C model existed. My son, then a sophomore at the historic Tuskegee University, made me aware of this beauty. I, am now a Lexus Enthusiast. I can't imagine driving anything other than an IS350C. I understand I am Not the typical driver of an IS350C but I appreciate being selected nevertheless.

I recall reading Toyoda-san directing that a production LF-LC remain 90% true to the original design . . . whatever that means.

These Lexus renderings are outstanding, especially the Nebula. Lexus is definitely taking their brand image to another level.

This is what I expect it to look like. Hopefully, it won't be overweight like the 6-series it competes against. Mercedes has nothing to compare to this. BD

Stop it! Lexus is in need of a car that can compete With the New VW Passat GTE(plug-in hybrid) etc. Lexus is falling behind in its own hybrid-game. No need for an SC. The SC-name is also polluted. You know Top Gear awarded it With the worst car-title. Put all resoursces in the New LS and hybrid-development .

    I hope you're right, but in that case Lexus needs to hurry up and get their New developed hybrid-system(or what they are working on?) out in the real world, very soon.

    I have the pleasure of being the manager for the "Lexus Owners Club". With 156,000 members across North America and Europe, there is a steady stream of conversation regarding anything Lexus. I think Thomas makes a salient point. The car market is and will continue it's move towards more hybred demand. Market studies show this trend across the country and see's no drop off. However, with gasoline prices down, the immediate demand may stall. Our members tell us they are hungry for good performance cars such as the RC. They feel Lexus has let themselves fall behind in power, performane, and styling since the GS, IS enginering in the past.
