Lexus RC Coupe to Introduce Next-Generation Remote Touch Controller

Looking over the photo of the Lexus RC interior, it shows a design very similar to the third-generation IS — in fact, the only noticeable difference is the new Remote Touch controller:

Lexus RC Remote Touch Controller

As seen in previous spy photos, the earlier mouse-like puck has been replaced with a touchscreen divided into four quadrants, with the HOME, MENUS & UP/DOWN buttons carried over.

There’s no mention in the press release how the new Remote Touch touchscreen might work, but I’m expecting a dramatic improvement over the previous controller — considering how important these infotainment interfaces have become to consumers, this update could be very important for Lexus in the years to come.

it just needs a bigger screen... at least as an option.

I wonder if they tested anything like...liquid spills on the pad? because I'm sure it could happen accidentally in the real world and that would not be good!

A much needed update. The mouse-type controller was a weak point. The previous touchscreen interface was much more intuitive IMO. Let's hope this one improves on that area.

Excuse Lexus while they leave the competition behind when it comes to driver interface technology..... BD

But they definitely need to make the screen less laggy. I test drove an IS300h a while back and the screens on the infotainment came up slower than a 10 year old computer running a bloated windows vista. The rest of the car is just perfect :-)

With no tactile feedback I don't know how it could be better. Significantly better placement of the cup holders though.

I love the look of this coupe. A non-convertible style hardtop coupe is long overdue. Hopefully, I can afford one and hope the final product will look identical to the photo shots.
