Lexus LC F High-Performance Coupe Arriving Later This Year?


A Lexus executive has pulled back the curtain in regards to a potential LC F coupe in a recent interview with CarBuzz:

Lexus still hasn’t officially announced a production LC F but it didn’t exactly deny that such a car was in development when we asked about it.

Moe Durand, Lexus International Strategic Communications Senior Manager told CarBuzz “something big is coming to LC this year,” but declined to provide any additional information.

Granted, it’s also possible they may have been referencing a production version of the LC Convertible Concept, but it seems unlikely in this context — we’re inclined to believe that LC F Coupe will precede LC Convertible into production.

The LCF will be a great car, just not at 200 thousand , this car is not for that type of market . The people that buy Lexus, 50% are from Toyota , 30% are original owner and 20% are from other brands . They all have 3 things in common, reliability, safety and value/resale . 200 thousand does not fit with these buyers . The LFA is worth 1 million and more, all because of limited units and unmatched performance . Just make a LFA 2 800 hp with the same price and half the units worth 500 thousand , drop the LC price to max 90 thousand and LCF 130 an call it a day . Oh make the LFA 2 a rear engine since where talking dream land stuff . lol

I agree, that’s way too much. In fact the current MSRP of the LC sits near such esteemed competitors as the Mercedes AMG GT, BMW M5 and Audi RS7, which already puts out 600 or near 600 HP and performance that smashes the LC, with nice touches of luxury. Just look:

2018 BMW M5: $102k and 600 HP (legitimate 3.2 s or faster)
2018 Mercedes AMG GTS: $132k and 515 HP (legitimate 3.7 s or faster)
2018 Mercedes E63s: $104k and 603 HP (legitimate 3.3 s or faster)
2018 Audi RS7: $113k and 569 HP (legitimate 3.5 s or faster)

2018 Lexus LC: $92k and 471 HP (legitimate 4.7 s or faster)
LCF: $200k and 600 HP (insert overrated manufacturer number here)

BMW M8: probably $110k-$130k and 600 HP

That’s why LC sales will likely continue to plummet in my opinion. Unless you’re a die-hard Lexus fan (which probably already purchased one), people would probably cross shop a lot of these. I would.

Oh, and I would take the Mercedes E63S, RS7 or M5 over the current LC. Pay a little more to get A LOT, LOT, LOT more. If you can afford the LC, you can probably afford the others as well and it would be an easy choice.

$200k for an LCF is just laughable. In fact the current LC should be $75k (the current price is a joke) and the LCF should be half of whatever they’re smoking.

Now it's next to impossible to get a new GT3 build (they are about $170 k now) given Porsche's priority system, but a 2016 or 2017 GT3 will be close to beating the LC F on 0-60 and should beat the LC F on a road track and they have NA engines and outstanding track handling. By the time 2022 or 2021 rolls around the competition will be even better than what they are now. $200k is misguided. Recently I have been looking at the 911 GT3, the AMG GTS, the Rs7 and even a AMG E63; these cars are superb. My only gripe with AMG is the annual maintenance costs are huge

Brother , Lexus IS doing great stuff nowadays, but this 200 thing is not great at all . Lexus as a brand needs to occupy a space that no body else does . Less is more , more units moved , more profits, just more in the grand scheme of things . I think you are right with your full assessment of the 911 and AMG products. LC F 120 , 130 no higher and drop the LC to 90 all in , then Lexus will own that spot . Moving 50 to 70 units of the LC F and twice that a month .
You haven't been proven wrong? LOL Quite a cocky statement considering you lack knowledge in this area.

The current 5.0 Liter V8 is used in the RCF GT3 racing car with very small modifications and yes, it wins races (just won over the weekend). It takes only a true high performance engine to withstand the torture and stress of endurance racing.

Unless the entire interior is gold plated or something there's no way the LC F would double the price of the base model. Lexus, for all their other faults, don't generally overprice vehicles.

True, this could be inaccurate reporting.

I do like GTG's suggestion of keeping it significantly below $150k, like $120 - $130 k; they would sell quite a few. Hell, I'd seriously consider buying one. I am waiting to hear about specs and performance on the track, including Nurburgring. I wonder how well they will get the suspension? obviously they will need a lot of carbon fiber b/c the LC is a heavy (albeit sexy) car

On the other hand, it is very sad that BMW cant build luxury vehicles and compete with something like LC or LFA.

Not sure what does M5 have to do with LC at all.

Rumors about a Lexus LC F have been floating around for months, but spy photographers have finally caught the model undergoing testing.

Snapped in Germany, the high-performance coupe has a modified front bumper with huge air intakes. The bumper doesn’t appear to be production ready, but the car also has extended front wheel arches which suggest the model may have a slightly wider track.

The rest of the styling largely carries over, but the LC F has lightweight wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system. We can also see a stacked four tailpipe exhaust system which echoes other F models such as the RC F and GS F.

Lexus has been tight-lipped about the highly-anticipated model, but it appears the company is already gearing up for the car’s marketing campaign. As you can see in several photos, the LC F was being lead by a camera crew in a Mercedes C-Class Convertible and we’ll presumably see the footage in a video documenting the car’s development.

Of course, the biggest question is what’s under the hood. There have been countless rumors on the subject and they have included everything from a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8 to a supercharged version of the engine. Other rumors have indicated a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS) and 470 lb-ft (636 Nm) of torque. These should be taken with a grain of salt, as should rumors suggesting the car will use a hybrid powertrain.

While it’s too early to know what will power the LC F, the LC 500 has a 5.0-liter V8 with 471 hp (351 kW / 477 PS) and 398 lb-ft (540 Nm) of torque. This enables the car to run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 4.4 seconds and hit an electronically limited top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

To appease hybrid fans, Lexus also offers an LC 500h with a 3.5-liter V6 and two electric motors. The model has a combined maximum output of 354 hp (264 kW / 359 PS) and this allows for a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of 4.7 seconds. That’s not much slower than the LC 500, but the hybrid is limited to 155 mph (250 km/h).

And finally another set of prototypes have been caught! Lexus is being so secretive, to the point they have made sure across many market, dealer owners are not talking about it to staff. I have heard more about a new GX (1 year), but not this on that end.
Looks like this LC F prototype and the camoed 2019 Lexus RC F-Sport facelift prototype were out at roughly the same time. Both are being led by the same dark silver Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet filming.

Does anybody else feel suspicious about this "wild caught prototype"? Was it really any accident? Purposefully showing the huge intake, exposed radiators, exposed quad exhaust. Maybe Lexus wanted to confirm what we were all already expecting.

The LC-based racecar has been converted for racing use by Toyota factory mechanics and engineers. The automaker says the racecar will help it refine innovations that will be utilized on its vehicles going forward, such as lightweight materials and aerodynamics, and help it to make advancements on engine durability, fuel economy and suspension setups.​

Agghhh!!! I was going to make a post about this!!!

Anyways, I am quite proud of Lexus, they have been finally answering our calls to continuously update their cars. The RC is getting a refresh, there will obviously be this, and there is a range-topping RC F GT that should be crazier than the original RC F. I guess this is the answer to the Black Series for Mercedes or GTS for BMW.

This is clearly a very early stage in its development. The front fenders are a different shade of black from the rest of the panels, the front fenders are wider but also have very rough cutouts. I think they are only testing the front part of the car as the rear fenders are basically untouched aside from the exhausts.

The back seat area seems flat without the small rear head reasts on the standard LCs and hopefully they will ditch the rear seats for the LCF.

Also the Supra was behind the LC and I have a feeling they are focusing on testing new mechanics in the car rather than cosmetics.
Even as a mule it's beautiful lol

Notice the brakes are dimpled and not slotted. Possible Carbon Ceramics :)

Yeah, this isn't a "caught prototype" in any meaningful sense of that word, this is a statement.
I am more interested in the new IS interesting rumour that maintains it will be the size of the current GS which makes the future of the GS more doubtful. However the GS is based on the Toyota Crown which has recently been updated, so all a bit confusing. The market has changed I guess it is no longer that they need to compete with the C class or the three series it's all about the SUV market these days and there Lexus are well represented and still the Limitless to come in to play.
This looks awesome but, sadly, I won't be able to afford one. How much do y'all think this will cost? $120k US? Not something that a humble aircraft mechanic can splurge on.
