Lexus LC F High-Performance Coupe Arriving Later This Year?

A Lexus executive has pulled back the curtain in regards to a potential LC F coupe in a recent interview with CarBuzz:

Lexus still hasn’t officially announced a production LC F but it didn’t exactly deny that such a car was in development when we asked about it.

Moe Durand, Lexus International Strategic Communications Senior Manager told CarBuzz “something big is coming to LC this year,” but declined to provide any additional information.

Granted, it’s also possible they may have been referencing a production version of the LC Convertible Concept, but it seems unlikely in this context — we’re inclined to believe that LC F Coupe will precede LC Convertible into production.

No way it will lose weight while retaining all modern electronic toys.
The January next year will mark 2 years after the LC 500 was revealed. I will be disappointed if it is not revealed by then. Most performance variants of luxury vehicles in other companies take 1 year max. I don't want to wait so long. A lot of the hype around the LC 500 has also died down by now.
From what I’m told the LCF is going to be lighter then LC from the materials used. Forged carbon fibre with removal of seats and other tech not needed will help in its diet. Remember it’s not going to be a performance GT but a super car! We are entering the realm of the mighty 911 and will be very low volume to make it work! But not just a 911 but the GT3...this is a huge task to take on so I don’t mind the wait, we need it to be perfect so give it time and we will have an incredible car that the LFA might be proud of  I’m sure most people would agree to give it a few years to create something special rather then a rush job and end up with a failed, bloated and slow product to help strip the F marquee it’s credibility. If it’s supposed to be an F car then it needs to deliver like the LFA and ISF. Not just looks and sound! I do not want another RCF story!
No... I don't think it will reach supercar territory or is intended for that segment either. It is just going to be a higher performance version of the LC 500. It will still keep it's luxury and comfort while still making it more track-capable and quicker. It will compete with the upcoming M8 and S 63 Coupe. None of these cars can be described as supercars, even though on paper they may seem like them.
Today "supercar" means "drag car. BMW M8 is certainly the new Nissan GT-R, even if less exciting. Supercars and Hypercars) car dead, except in Monte Carlo and London (UAE exports).
Dreaming about this car....
I can pretty much guarantee there won't be AWD. Have you seen the front end of this car and the current suspension layout in relation to the low engine mounting? Lexus would have to spend a small fortune to redo a good portion of this for AWD in one small production specialized car, and that is not something Lexus is known to do. I would love to see them prove me wrong though.
Did Lexus International's Moe Durand tacitly confirm an upcoming LC F? Here are excerpts from a CarBuzz story:

Lexus All But Confirms An LC F Is Coming
BY JARED ROSENHOLTZ

At a driving event for the new 2020 RC F Track Edition, which was just revealed at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show, we had a chance to sit down with the Lexus team at Thermal Raceway in Palm Springs California to discuss the future of the F brand moving forward...

...Back in 2017, rumors emerged that Lexus was working on a hardcore LC F model, which would use a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing over 600 horsepower. After seeing numerous spy shots of what appeared to be an LC F prototype, it seemed like a more powerful LC was only a matter of time.

Lexus still hasn't officially announced a production LC F but it didn't exactly deny that such a car was in development when we asked about it. Moe Durand, Lexus International Strategic Communications Senior Manager told CarBuzz "something big is coming to LC this year," but declined to provide any additional information. Durand's comment could also point to a production version of the LC Convertible Concept, which debuted alongside the RC F Track Edition at Detroit. If Lexus does end up revealing a new LC variant this year, we'd guess it would show up at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

During a presentation on the RC F Track Edition, Lexus gave us yet another hint at the LC F's existence by flashing a quick photograph of an LC test mule, which looked very much like the spy shots pictured above. The picture was quickly glossed over when we were told a line to the effect of "we have some cool stuff in development to show you that we can't talk about yet."

Judging by how many subtle winks and nods we were given when asked about the LC F, we don't believe Lexus is being shy about the car's existence. It may not be an official confirmation but we think the time is right to get truly excited about the prospect of a 600-plus horsepower GT car from Lexus.

Umm exciting! Honestly don’t care if it’s LCF or LCC production one of them! No more concepts we want production and now! We need for engine choices in the whole lineup! Come on Lexus!

oh I hope so! and that it's priced competitively... I'd upgrade my IS F in a flash :-) .... maybe.

I think LCF for the fact that the LC Convertible "already happened" (even though it was a concept). I think Lexus wanted it to be a given that the LC Convertible was happening. I think for him to say "something big" it means something we have not seen at all yet (except for spy shots). I feel if it were the LC Convertible, he would have said "LC Convertible is coming soon" and not just "something big is coming..."Hopefully an LCF and LC Convertible hit showrooms soon.

-_- <-- That's all I have to say for that.
TMC is a notoriously secretive company, so when they say they are 'considering' doing something, it means they are already doing it; otherwise it would not let out any information in the first place.

be prepared for a price tag over $130 k is my bet

Agree. RC F Track Edition is $97k... LC F is going to be a lot more expensive than that.

They'll definitely want to put some daylight between the RCTE and a real-deal fire-breathing LC. I wouldn't be surprised to see $150k.
I honestly can't wait for this, to come to reality. And I guarantee that this will make a big hit in the middle eastern market. Since everyone loves big engines and petrol is cheaper compared to the world. Also, Lexus is behind its competitors in terms of powertrain. Adding to that, I think a 600+ HP would be just amazing
Most exciting car from Lexus to come out apart from the lfa. I hope it’s not too pricey. Make the regular F really good and then make a track edition that is simply awesome. I’m expecting a twin turboV8 and 10 speed auto. Maybe some hybrid power of some sort. Please Lexus offer the LCF in ultrasonic blue mica 2.0 and structural blue.
as much as I want it to materialize , as much as much as I won't sell the GS-F

GS-F for me is a way of life , amazing way of life

467 HP isn't enough?
As i drove the LC500 a couples times now, the 5.0l engin is really nice. It does have a nice peak HP, great sound and a quick gear changing when you're full throttle. Unfortunatly, this engine need some torque. You can have plenty of fun if you stay above 4,000rpm. This is where a Twin Turbo V8 LC F would make all the difference. Low RPM peak torque would make the car a total different beast!!!

Agreed. Absolutely lovely engine but 520 would be great. Then 600 plus as an option. This is a heavy car. That said the current 5.0 is matched about as well as anyone could ask.
I really hope that Lexus brings it’s A game for this product. A turbocharged V8 is a must with over 600 hp. A 10 speed auto would be nice. Weight loss over the standard model is a must also. Get it near 4 k pounds or slightly under. Also offer vibrant colors with this model. Both ultra sonic blue mica 2.0 or structural blue will be nice.
