Lexus Releases First Image of NX Compact Crossover

Lexus has released the very first teaser image of the NX compact crossover, which is set to debut at the Beijing Motor Show on April 20th — here’s the image in high resolution:

Lexus NX Compact Crossover Teaser

The RC-style tri-LED headlights are visible, as are some of the defining sharp angles of the LF-NX concept. One of the biggest improvements over the concept is the unbroken flat hood, though there isn’t much detail beyond that.

The accompanying press release is short & sweet:

The all-new Lexus NX luxury compact crossover will debut at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. The unveiling of the NX, based on the LF-NX concept, marks Lexus’ entry into the fast growing luxury compact crossover segment. With its striking design, advanced technologies and Lexus’ signature spindle grill, the NX will set new standards for future models in the line-up.

In addition, the new Lexus RC F performance coupe will make its China debut at the Beijing show.

The Lexus press conference will take place on April 20 at the W3 Hall of the China International Exhibition Center.

Lexus International will be streaming the reveal live from Beijing on April 20th, starting at 10:30 EST/7:30 PST.

Yes a big hit all over the world. Except for Europe. As there is no diesel. And 90% of the cars in this market segment come with 150hp 2.0 diesel engine. People are too stupid to buy a hybrid version and Lexus is too stupid to whine about not selling any cars.

I think this will sell well in Europe relative to Lexus' sales generally in the region. It should be one of the top 3 selling models I expect.

WOW!!! Very exciting to see the triple "L" LED lights make it into production. This must likely be an F-Sport or top of the line model.

Very likely an F Sport. This means that Lexus will show us immediately the F Sport edition of the NX ?! And that's good, because the first impression is very important. It must be a direct hit ! But, suppose this is not the F Sport...

Very exciting ! Can't wait to see the volume numbers jump. Production of this vehicle will need to be in high gear to keep up with the demand, once in Dealerships. Get ready LEXUS, this will be BIG !

This must be the can of whuppass I ordered! It keeps the concept's light design, which is similar to the new RC's Scandalous! It will be outselling Evoque by it's third week. Vehicles like the RDX, X1, and Q5 need to be afraid. Very afraid. One.....two....NX is coming for you..... BD

It is about time for this sleeping dragon (Toyota Corp) to show off its fire. Nowadays, a good quality with decent design car just doesn't sell. Toyota and Lexus is heading on the right path, design with more passion. Just don't forget to stick with the quality.

What about pricing? Will it match the Lexus ES ($37k and $40k for the Hybrid)? It can't be much higher with the RX still around $40k. Might start under $35k! BD
