First Test Run of the Pikes Peak Lexus IS F CCS-R

Here’s Lexus USA VP of Marketing Brian Smith to discuss the IS F CCS-R scheduled to race at Pikes Peak in July, along with some footage of the race car practising at Willow Springs Raceway:

What a sound.

(As mentioned in the video, drifting champ & experienced Pikes Peak driver Ken Gushi will be behind the wheel of the IS F CCS-R for its run in The Race to the Clouds.)

Update: Here’s a quick video of the IS F CCS-R’s first run up Pikes Peak:

Ken Gushi? I was really hoping Toyota would bring one of their top drivers over like the famous Akira Iida. Not that Ken Gushi is a bad driver, it's just that I have always seen him in drift videos never in time attacks.

This is awesome, and a great start, but I'd love to see Lexus in American Le Mans. BMW has been campaigning the 3-series in ALMS for as long as I can remember (in addition to running a prototype for several years). Competing in ALMS with the IS F would be excellent for marketing to the IS F's target market. I know there's got to be some interest (and hopefully some talk) because Toyota is campaigning the TS030 at Le Mans...
