Lexus Announces Voluntary Safety Recall on 2004-2005 ES 330, 2004-2005 RX 330 & 2006 RX 400h

Lexus has announced a voluntary safety recall on the 2004-2005 ES 330, 2004-2005 RX 330, and the 2006 RX 400h to replace the crankshaft pulley — here are the technical details pulled directly from the press release:

There is a possibility that the outer ring of the crankshaft pulley may become misaligned with the inner ring, causing noise and/or illumination of the discharge warning light. If this condition is not corrected, the belt for the power steering pump may become detached from the pulley and the driver may notice a sudden increase in steering effort. There are no reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition.

137,000 Lexus vehicles in the USA are affected — owners will be notified by mail, and repairs are scheduled to start in January 2012.

The 2006 RX 400h has electric power steering, and no accessory drive belts (that would run the hydraulic power steering pump, like on an ES 330 or RX 330), so I'm guessing it's included in the recall just in case?

I imagine it's just to play it safe, as it uses the same engine.
