The 2011 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study has been released, and Lexus placed second overall, behind only Lincoln.
The study looks at problems experienced during the past year by original owners of three-year-old (2008 model year) vehicles, and includes 202 different problem symptoms across all areas of the vehicle. From that, dependability is determined by the level of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100), with a lower score reflecting higher quality.
Lexus scored with 109 PP100, which is 8 more than Lincoln and 42 less than the industry average. The Lexus RX also placed first in the Midsize Premium Crossover/SUV category, with the GS, LS, GX, and ES all placing within the top three for their segments.
