Lexus USA CT 200h Pricing!

The U.S. pricing for the Lexus CT 200h has been announced by way of Nevada’s Lexus of Reno dealership, who have posted the full details to their blog one day before the official announcement.

To start with, the MSRP of the Entry-Level CT will be $29,120 USD ($29,995 after delivery charges), and includes standard equipment such as Safety Connect, XM Satellite Radio, USB connector for iPod/MP3 players, Bluetooth streaming audio and power lumbar seat support. A Premium-grade CT 200h, which adds a moonroof & heated seats to the entry-level model, will be available for $30,900 USD($31,775 after delivery charges).

As far as options go, here’s the full list available:

The CT 200h will also launch with over two dozen accessories:

…from comfort and convenience items to a 17” F Sport wheel and interchangeable dashboard trim panels. This CT-first for Lexus enables CT owners to customize the interior of their vehicle by easily replacing a black panel with one made of genuine bamboo, genuine ash burl, or metallic finish…

Lexus has also created the industry’s first Electronic Device Holder, which will come standard on every CT. This simple console-mounted device can easily hold most cell phones, music players, or portable Navigation devices, in close proximity to the power and USB ports on the console.

The final U.S. color list is as follows:

Exterior Colors

  • 4V3 Fire Agate Pearl
  • 5B1 Daybreak Yellow Mica
  • 077 Starfire Pearl
  • 1G1 Tungsten Pearl
  • 1G0 Smokey Granite Mica
  • 212 Obsidian
  • 3R1 Matador Red Mica

Interior Colors

  • Nuluxe Material: Black, Ecru, Caramel
  • Perforated Leather: Black, Water Gray

In the end, the MSRP of the Entry CT is significantly lower than both the IS 250 ($4,695 below) and the HS 250h ($6,480 below), but even more important was Lexus USA squeezing the price under the $30,000 mark. All that’s left to do is some competitor price comparisons — stay tuned!

I thought the base price would have started at well under $30k, like 27 or 28. But at least the options are well priced, well equipped models will come in around $35k. In comparison a "Prius V" with navigation comes in at $31k and $34k with the advanced technology package. The CT is well worth it at just one or two thousand more.

Why does Lexus require you to purchase certain packages before you can add others? I can understand this for some cases (ie requiring Navigation to get a back up camera, etc). But why do you have to purchase the leather package to get the pre-collision system? And it isn't only the CT, I've noticed this on several of their models. Why can't they just have a list of options for you to pick and choose which ones you like? It's not that big of a deal but it kind of restricts you from getting certain combinations. For example, if someone wanted the Ecru interior and PCS, they couldn't get it. Because you have to have the leather pkg to get PCS and you can't get Ecru leather. So then you have to choose one or the other.
