Conclusion of the video is the engine is bad, that is what is mainly wrong with it. And Toyota wants to replace it with another smaller displacement 4 cylinder? They need a new V6 or I6.

Not that I disagree with the Land Cruiser needing 6 cylinders (TRD PRO?) but I think the 2.4T is clearly not Toyota's best work, whereas they seem very proud of this new family of 4-cylinders. Time will tell.

Really well done, and he makes a great point with "effortlessness" being a key part of the Land Cruiser experience. 80 Series, 100 Series, 200 Series all had that "carved out of granite, over engineered, the best quality" feeling and while none were fast, those engines were smooth as butter, sounded great, and made the entire experience feel... Land Cruiser.

I don't think the 2.4T was the best choice for the Land Cruiser... it deserves a V6. It's fine for the Tacoma and 4Runner as lower priced vehicles, but for the traditional Land Cruiser buyer, it's a major downgrade. Significantly worse NVH is maybe the worst part of all considering the legacy Land Cruiser experience.

It is called Landcruiser in NA, but it is a Prado. Prado never had I6 and V8, except in the GX.

If we’re lucky, the LX will become hybrid only, the GX will get the full V35 tune (maybe even the 420hp tune), and the LC250 will get the detuned V35 as an option.

If we’re really lucky, the V35 gets replaced with an I6 in 2027.

What has Lucky got to do with I6? Is it wishful thinking or is Toyota working on I6?

It’s just wishful thinking on my part. There doesn’t really seem to be a point in having a V6 in Toyota’s lineup though, especially with nearly all transverse applications moving to 4 cylinder engines. An I6 that shares components with the 2.4T or upcoming 2.0T makes more sense from a production point of view. Just my $.02.
