We signed a free trade agreement with S.Korea in 2012. Current effective rate is under 1%. We do have a massive trade deficit as we export less there.

Buddy threatened 25% tariffs and an agreement was made at 15%.

So Americans will pay more for Korean cars soon enough

"will give to the United States $350 Billion Dollars for Investments owned and controlled by the United States, and selected by myself, as President": Really? I find that hard to believe that any sovereign country would just give away $350 Billion, without something they really wanted in return.

And this will hurt auto related small business and consumers even more. Unbelievable

A auto parts company in Detroit tried to fight it saying they would be cooked. The judge allowed this.

Can someone summarize the WSJ article? It is behind a paywall and I don't have a subscription.

I am curious why Toyota is so badly hit, much more so than Honda, Nissan and Mazsa.

I think Toyota builds many models in Canada, Mexico, and Japan. They also sell much more units than the other 2. My dream face-lifted LX600 is getting further and further away :)
