If they knew the 2UR was eventually going to be discontinued, why didn’t they bother making a proper successor? And don’t give me the whole emissions excuse - the competitors are still pushing TTV8s with 48V systems and PHEVs. Toyota has all this hybrid tech but doesn’t seem interested in using it to make something truly great. Just more half-assed EVs with meh range and performance. It’s honestly kinda sad.

Clearly the V35a was viewed internally as it's "proper" successor

We have had 2 generations of the 5.0 for 18 years next year. It’s wild to think its origins were in the LS 600h L and shoehorned into the IS F and other vehicles. Today the LS has no V-8 and it’s used in a couple and smaller sedan. The LC hasn’t really aged.

Every time I see any video of the LC, it makes me wanna cry. This car is already on its way out. Modern cars can be as fast as they want, but they’ll never give you the kind of emotional and aural experience the LC does.

Just watched SG’s review of the E53 - yeah, it’s quick and handles well, but it’s just soulless and numb.

I really don’t think we’ll ever get a car that delivers what the LC does again...even Lexus themselves have given up on it.
